The Hellfire Gala finally arrived and with all the high fashions, it shouldn't be surprising that Gwenpool took inspiration from manga fashion icon, Sailor Moon. X-Men: Hellfire Gala (2022) #1 kicks off the X-Men's biggest event of the year. Like many other Marvel heroes, Gwenpool merited an invitation and is ready for a night of fun in an outfit sure to turn some heads.

Gwenpool is still a relatively new Marvel character, considering she debuted in 2015. Gwen Stacy and her many variants have become rather popular as a stand-in for amalgams of numerous Marvel heroes and villains. From Deadpool to Thor, and even Venom, there are dozens of characters that Gwen has merged with. However, Gwenpool is ready for a big crossover, taking style notes from Usagi Tsukino, better known as Sailor Moon.

Hellfire Gala #1 (2022) has the creative team of Gerry Duggan, Kris Anka, Russell Dauterman, Matteo Lolli, CF Villa, Rain Beredo, Frank Martin, Matt Milla, Matthew Wilson, Cory Petit, Tom Mulle, Jay Bowen, Lauren Amaro, Jordan D. White, and C. B. Cebulski. Just like last year, the event is being attended by many celebrity guests, as well as heroes from Marvel's broader comic universe. This includes Gwendolyn Poole, better known as Gwenpool. This is the superhero fashion event of the year and even Sailor Moon's iconic costume fits the bill for the evening.

Gwenpool dressed as Sailor Moon at Hellfire Gala 2022

With a seifuku-inspired top, Gwen is definitely channeling her Moon Prism Power at this event. However, her sailor suit is in her signature colors, bringing pink and yellow to the forefront. While her hair may not be as long as the iconic manga heroine, Gwen's hair is nonetheless styled in the iconic buns that Sailor Moon has rocked for over thirty years. However, unlike the usual Sailor Guardians, this heroine doesn't go for the typical skirt of the outfit, instead opting for a half-skirt train attached to the sides her bodice. The look is distinct enough to not be a direct copy of any of the Sailor Scouts looks, while still fitting Gwen's aesthetic stunningly.

Considering the influence of Sailor Moon in comics globally and Gwenpool's self-awareness, it's no surprise that she would take style tips from the manga icon. Sailor Moon may not be a Marvel heroine, but there's no better impersonator for her in Marvel's universe than Gwen. Gwen Stacy has already become so many other heroes that allowing her to take on the role of this moon princess isn't too farfetched. While she's had numerous appearances in X-Men related comics and other team books, she hasn't had her own book since 2019. This makes her request for a book rather fitting.

Giving her the chance to continue the classic Gwen Stacy variant bit with out-of-universe hero spoofs starting with her manga-inspired Sailor Moon Hellfire Gala appearance may just be the next thing for Gwenpool.
