Renowned movie musical director Bill Condon has been recruited to work on the Guys and Dolls remake. Guys and Dolls first found success on Broadway in 1950. It was then adapted into a movie musical for the first time in 1955. The musical was revived on Broadway numerous times in 1976, 1992, and 2009. The pattern continues as a remake for the movie musical is currently in the works.

THR confirms that Condon will direct the upcoming Guys and Dolls remake. Condon has plenty of experience with the movie musical genre. His most notable movie musical credit is Dreamgirls. He not only directed the 2006 hit but penned the screenplay. Other movie musical credits include directing Beauty and The Beast and penning Chicago and The Greatest Showman. Outside of movie musicals, he won an Oscar for God and Monsters, which he wrote and directed.

Condon seems like an extremely fitting choice for the upcoming Guys and Dolls remake. He not only has plenty of directing and screenwriting experience but is also experienced in the movie musical genre. Not just any director can take on singing and dancing on top of acting, and Guys and Dolls is heavy on all three factors as an old-school musical. Additionally, most of the movie musicals he worked on were period pieces that will be an asset for Guys and Dolls, set in the 1930s.
