Netflix's The Guilty remake stars Jake Gyllenhaal and features voice cameos from several major stars, so here's a guide to the film's cast and characters. The new crime thriller is an American remake of a 2018 Danish film of the same name. The Guilty debuts on Netflix in 2021 after forging ahead with filming in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, which tested the film's crew tremendously, but also mostly worked out thanks to the small ensemble cast its premise requires.

The events of The Guilty unfold over the course of one night when Joe Baylor clocks in for what is scheduled to be his final night as a 911 call operator. Joe is used to being on the streets, but he has found himself behind a desk as of late due to a recent demotion. The Guilty spices up what could be Joe's final night wearing the headset by having him take a call from a woman in distress. He attempts to do everything he can from his desk job to help the woman escape from her kidnapper, which leads to some surprising revelations.

The remake of The Guilty is stacked with talent in front of and behind the camera. It's directed by Training Day's Antoine Fuqua and uses a script written by True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto. The talented duo helped bring The Guilty to life, which included Fuqua directing the entire 11-day production from inside a van due to COVID safety protocols. While the movie has earned high praise thanks to Jake Gyllenhaal's performance, it also secretly has a stacked cast thanks to the voice-only roles.

Jake Gyllenhaal as Joe Baylor

Jake Gyllenhaal is at the center of nearly every frame of The Guilty as he plays Joe Baylor. Gyllenhaal is one of the best actors around right now and has had great success with thriller movies before with Prisoners. His performance in Nightcrawler is often still seen as his career-best too. Of course, Gyllenhaal is fresh off one of his biggest roles as Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far From Home. He also previously worked with Fuqua on Southpaw and is received an Oscar nomination for his role in Brokeback Mountain.

Riley Keough as Emily

Peter Sarsgaard as Henry

Peter Sarsgaard's role as Henry in The Guilty sees him provide the voice of the man who kidnaps Riley. Sarsgaard is a terrific actor who has appeared in projects like JarheadGreen LanternJackie, and Antoine Fuqua's The Magnificent Seven remake. He'll appear in Matt Reeves' The Batman as District Attorney Gil Colson too.
