Despite enduring a magnitude-4.3 earthquake in California, Evo competitor Reynald Tacsuan still managed to come out on top in a Guilty Gear Strive match against Japanese opponent, Kei “BNBBN” Komada. The greater Los Angeles area was struck by the earthquake this past Friday night, September 17, resulting in a minor disturbance that, thankfully, resulted in no reported injuries.

As many a Californian can attest, earthquakes both big and small remain a relatively common occurrence, thanks in large part to the hundreds of faults, or fractures, running through the Golden State. The 4.3 magnitude quake on Friday night counted among the smaller ones, its central point hitting near Carson - an LA County city situated several miles south of downtown Los Angeles. Of course, the quake came as a surprise to all residents, but one, in particular, managed to capture the effects of the disturbance on camera during a virtual Evo fighting game tournament.

Evo competitor Reynald Tacsuan, who lives a few miles from Carson in Long Beach, California, was in the middle of a Guilty Gear Strive match against Kei “BNBBN” Komada when the quake hit last Friday. Confused by the event at first, Tacsuan quickly hunkered down as a precaution. He kept playing, though, refusing to let the tremors disrupt his chance at victory. He, ultimately, came out on top, too, securing a 3-1 win versus BNBBN. "Ain’t nothin’ stoppin’ me right now. F*ck that earthquake," Tacsuan exclaimed in the moments following the match's conclusion. Check out a snippet of the action in the tweet below from Tacsuan:

It would seem that sometimes not even Mother Nature herself can stand in the way of a good victory. This incredible feat by Tacsuan couldn't guarantee his team an all-out win, however. In the end, the North American crew loss to Japan with a win-loss record of 48-17.

Guilty Gear Strive launched this summer in June and Season Pass holders are already gaining access to extra DLC characters. Fighter Goldlewis Dickinson joined the roster in July, followed by Jack-O in August. An as yet unspecified third DLC fighter is slated arrive sometime this year, with a fourth mystery character set to go live next year.
