James Gunn has shared yet another taste of what it’s like behind-the-scenes making Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The writer/director’s first installment of the Guardians of the Galaxy series thrived on its comic energy and boundless sense of fun, and he clearly likes the process of making the films as enjoyable as possible. It’s hard for that loose atmosphere not to translate well to the big screen.

Gunn has taken time in recent days to share a new photo from behind the scenes of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 every day until its May 5 release. His shots have ranged from Dave Bautista as Drax getting slimed to the actors just relaxing in their dressing rooms to goofing off between takes with Michael Rooker in his full Yondu getup. His newest photo is more of the goofy variety.

Via Gunn’s personal Instagram page, the director shares a new photo from the set of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 featuring members of the main cast having some fun between shots. Chris Pratt (Star-Lord) is balancing Zoe Saldana (Gamora) on his back, for whatever reason, while Bautista and Kurt Russell (Ego the Living Planet) look on in amusement. Pom Klementieff (Mantis) appears to be in the background.

#GotGPicoftheDay What really gets me about this photo of Chris balancing Zoe on his back for no reason at all is that Kurt Russell JUST NATURALLY MAKES THOSE FINGER GUNS WITHOUT THINKING OR EFFORT. That's how freaking cool he is. #SnakePlissken #GotGVol2 #KurtRussell #EgotheLivingPlanet A post shared by James Gunn (@jamesgunn) on

“What really gets me about this photo of Chris balancing Zoe on his back for no reason at all is that Kurt Russell JUST NATURALLY MAKES THOSE FINGER GUNS WITHOUT THINKING OR EFFORT. That's how freaking cool he is,” Gunn’s caption reads. Pratt also recently shared a photo of Rooker, Klementieff, and Karen Gillan (Nebula) from behind the scenes.

Gunn’s Instagram page has been an absolute treasure trove of peeks behind the curtain at the making of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Whether it’s a shot of the actors with their makeup on, a promotional image, or even a photo of himself directing actors and crew on the set, following his Instagram page has been an eye-opening experience for Guardians of the Galaxy fans.

Expect many more photos leading up to the release of Vol. 2, as it appears that Gunn is keeping his promise of a new photo every day. It’s still unclear just how the sequel itself will turn out when it hits theaters, considering the limited trailers and TV spots released so far. But if Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is as fun as its predecessor -- or the fun that the cast and crew had on set -- viewers are in for another great addition to the series.
