Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continued the story of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's first cosmic heroes. Taken away from the idea of the Nova Corps, this sequel allowed the team to come into their own as a true superhero team and introduced one of the MCU's most bizarre characters in Ego, a living planet.

The movie dealt with a lot more personal issues than the first movie, which was mostly an exercise in the team getting along with each other. In this movie, Yondu had a chance to face his past and find his redemption, and he wasn't even one of the characters with the most screentime in the movie. When looking at the Guardians of the Galaxy characters in the first sequel, not including minor characters with no bearing on the plot, who has the most and least screentime?

Least - Martinex (1:00)

Martinex walking with Stakar Ogord.

Martinex was a member of Stakar Ogord's Ravagers team and was the only major name to appear with him early in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and at the end during the memorial for Yondu. Martinex was played by a geek favorite, with Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luthor from Smallville) in the role. Martinex was notable for his crystal skin. While he appeared more than once in the movie, he was only on screen for a total of one minute.

Least - Meredith Quill (1:30)

Meredith Quill played a huge part in the storyline for the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie but only appeared at the start when she died and then later in a vision by Peter Quill. She got more time in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 when she opened the movie with Ego in his human form, but her total screentime still only amounted to a total of 1:30, despite playing such an important role in both Quill and Ego's lives.

Least - Stakar Ogord (1:30)

It seems wild that Marvel signed Sylvester Stallone and only gave him one minute and 30 seconds of screen time. Despite that low amount, he still played an important role as Stakar Ogord, the former leader of the Ravagers team that Yondu was once a member of. Stakar showed up and put Yondu in his place early in the movie and then returned to pay tribute to the man after his death. In the comics, Stakar was an original member of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Least - Ayesha (3:30)

Ayesha on her throne in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2

Ayesha was the first villain the Guardians of the Galaxy had to deal with, and it was their own fault. Ayesha hired the team to retrieve Anulax Batteries. They did so, but Rocket stole some from her before leaving, which caused her to send a fleet to kill them unsuccessfully.

Ayesha returned later to hire Taserface to kill the Guardians and failed once again. At the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Ayesha was back in a post-credit scene with a cocoon she named Adam, an homage to Adam Warlock.

Least - Taserface (4:15)

Taserface hunting down Yondu.

Taserface was a member of Yondu's crew that betrayed him and killed anyone loyal to the former Ravager captain. However, his fate was sealed at that point, and when Rocket helped Yondu escape, Taserface was outgunned and fell easily. While he wasn't a major villain and wasn't hard to beat, he was still in the movie for just over four minutes of screentime, as both a nuisance and a minor antagonist for Yondu to get past before finding his own redemption.

Most - Drax (16:30)

Drax onboard the Milano.

As a movie about a team, there was a lot of screentime to spread around to the various members of the Guardians of the Galaxy. In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Drax got more screentime than Baby Groot and Nebula but fell short of the other team members. Regardless, Drax was still in the movie for 16 minutes, 30 seconds, both as the team's muscle in fight scenes and as comedy relief, easily the funniest member of the entire cast.

Most - Ego (17:00)

Ego talking to Peter Quill/Star-Lord.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 villain Ego received more screen time than anyone in the movie outside of three of the team's actual members. Played by Kurt Russell, Ego the Living Planet was in the movie for 17 minutes, both in his human form and in his more natural form as a giant planet.

Ego first showed up after the first act had ended with the Guardians of the Galaxy escaping from Ayesha's armada and then spent much of the rest of the movie trying to convince Peter Quill to join him before the final battle with the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Most - Rocket (19:45)

Rocket with Baby Groot sitting on his shoulder.

Rocket received more screentime in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 than anyone but Gamora and Peter Quill. This makes sense as Rocket had always been the heart and soul of the team, and he got a lot of big moments in this movie. Rocket was there from the start, and then he got his own running plot strand in the movie where he separated from the rest of the team and paired up with Yondu. Whether he was with Yondu, Baby Groot, or Nebula, Rocket shined in his 19 minutes, 45 seconds of the movie.

Most - Gamora (24:00)

Gamora looking at Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2

Gamora ended up with 24 minutes of screentime in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which will likely be much more than she gets in the third movie in the series. In this second movie, Gamora moved closer to Peter Quill when it came to their relationship and was able to complete her reconnection with her sister Nebula by the time the movie ended. However, Gamora died in Avengers: Infinity War and was replaced by an alternate version of her with none of her experience in this movie.

Most - Peter Quill/Star-Lord (35:45)

Star-Lord sitting down and thinking.

The character with the most screentime in both Guardians of the Galaxy movies was Peter Quill. The man who likes to go by the name of Star-Lord was in the second movie in the series for 11 minutes less than in the first movie, which is slightly surprising since much of the second film is about his relationship with Ego. However, when fans consider the fact Rocket and Yondu got their own side plot, that took away from the total screentime for the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy.
