Marvel Studios kicked off their Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2008 with Iron Man and has since introduced a whole galaxy of characters adapted from the pages of comic books - both well known and more obscure. Last year saw the start of the MCU's Phase 3, which officially began with the third movie following the Star-Spangled Man, Captain America: Civil War, and continued in the origin story of Doctor Strange. The remaining Phase 3 films are a mix of new characters and returning franchises, and Marvel's next upcoming entry, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, falls into the latter category.

James Gunn's 2014 Guardians of the Galaxy introduced the public to a group of lesser known characters from Marvel Comics: Peter Quill aka Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper), and Groot (Vin Diesel). Gearing up for the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 this spring, collectibles and figures have begun to be announced - including some particularly lifelike replicas and statues.

Sideshow Collectibles has now unveiled the limited edition Star-Lord helmet prop replica from EFX Collectibles that runs for $699.99. According to Sideshow, the helmet is made using “master patterns made from an original screen-used helmet from the Marvel Studios archives” and it includes “2 piece construction, accurate paint scheme, and even the hardware detail.” Take a look at images of the helmet replica in the gallery below:

Based on the size of the helmet, those who purchase the replica could theoretically wear it - though, as the piece is a collectible, it's unlikely many will choose to do so. Instead, the helmet replica comes with a display base for collectors to more easily add it to their personal displays.

However, the Star-Lord helmet replica isn't the only Guardians of the Galaxy collectible Sideshow has for collectors in conjunction with the upcoming sequel's release. Hot Toys has made Rocket Raccoon (a deluxe version) and Drax the Destroyer figures available to pre-order through Sideshow, both of which include a host of interchangeable pieces including different costumes and weapons. Plus, the Rocket Raccoon figure includes a Baby Groot accessory in order to tie in with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Additionally, Sideshow revealed Gamora and Groot Premium Format Figures, both of which differ greatly from the versions of the characters that appear in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy movies. The Gamora figure includes the God Slayer blade and is "reminiscent of her appearance after she attained cosmic powers from the Black Vortex." Meanwhile, the grown up Groot figure features an attack arm that resembles what fans have seen of the character's abilities in the films.
