Warning! Spoilers ahead for The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. Eternals star Kumail Nanjiani reacts to Kingo Easter eggs in The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. Director James Gunn officially makes his return to the MCU after working in the DCU for the last few years. Before Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which will mark the end of the original iteration of the rag-tag cosmic team, the filmmaker makes Marvel's first holiday-themed offering in the latest Disney+ feature, which primarily follows Drax the Destroyer and Mantis' quest to bring Kevin Bacon to Star-Lord as his Christmas gift.

However, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special doesn't only feature its titular characters. Since it's part of the official MCU canon, it also includes references to the bigger franchise. That includes a couple of posters for Kingo's movies. As the Bollywood actor member of the Eternals, Nanjiani's character has appeared in countless films over the years. The actor responded to his character's sighting in Gunn's Christmas film. Check Nanjiani's post below.

Why Kingo Was The Eternals' Breakout Character

Marvel Studios debuted a whole new superhero team via the Chloé Zhao-directed project in 2021. Sent to Earth by the Celestials to protect humanity from Deviants thousands of years ago, the Eternals went their separate ways after assuming that the last of the Deviants had been killed. So when they came back after the Avengers reversed Thanos snap and defeated the Titan, the cosmic beings had to re-assemble. Each member of the team has their respective quirks and assets. Following their split, they decided different ways to move on with their lives. For Kingo, that meant establishing himself as one of the biggest Bollywood stars, hence his posters in The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.

Despite Kingo's devastating betrayal, he is arguably Eternals' breakout character. His dynamic with his assistant and trusted ally, Karun, is one of the most fun dynamics in the movie. Among all the members of the team, he also had the most interesting arc since they went their separate ways countless decades ago. Granted that his final decision to leave the rest of the team while they fight to stop the Emergence undoubtedly leaves a bad taste in the mouth, but the character is charming enough to still support and that's primarily due to Nanjiani's performance.

For now, it's still uncertain when Kingo and the rest of the Eternals will properly return in the MCU. Pip the Troll actor, Patton Oswalt, previously claimed that a sequel is in development, but Nanjiani debunked that Eternals 2 is moving forward. The great thing is, Kingo's posters in The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special suggest it's only a matter of time before he and his teammates re-appear.
