The Guardians of the Galaxy franchise is one set of films that have grown increasingly popular among the Marvel Cinematic Universe fans. Full of pop culture references and comic relief, fans love how eccentric and quirky every character is - especially since the majority of them are from different planets.

However, that is not to say there aren't some traits the fans would love to change. Take Quill for example - he may have shown himself to be a compassionate and altruistic person but he also undermined these qualities when he did some stupid and irresponsible things. He also got on the fans nerves for these reasons alone...

Ungrateful

In the last five years, fans have suggested that Quill has become a lot more ungrateful. The thing about Quill is, he never notices what a good thing he has until it is too late. Fans saw this in vol 2. when he failed to recognize the role Yondu played in his life he met his real father.

He also seemed to take The Guardians for granted when he implies to Gamora that he didn't consider them family. Let's not forget his determination to find Gamora after Tony Stark's funeral. Could he not have taken five minutes to appreciate the fact that they were all alive again? If this new mission fails, let's hope he still remembers what he has.

Writing For His Arc

Most fans will agree that Quill has got a long journey ahead of him if he is to get himself in their good graces. Despite saving the galaxy in the first two movies, Quill's hero status was diminished by Infinity War and EndgameAs many fans know, Quill played a part in 'the snap' after he sabotaged the plan and allowed Thanos to get the Time Stone.

When he did make his return in Endgame, he then hardly featured in the Battle of Earth because he got distracted. If the writers wanted to redeem him, it would have been better if they didn't wipe him out in the snap...

Insecurities

When fans first met Quill, he was a self-assured and confident guy. He was also very charming and persuasive. However, he was shown to grow more insecure as time went on. For instance, in vol. 2, he was seen to get uncomfortable when Mantis revealed his feelings for Gamora (which he already showed in the first).

By Infinity War, he's shown to be severely intimidated by Thor's build and looks. Even Endgame showed he was insecure over the prospect that the Guardians would prefer Thor's leadership to his. Hopefully, his confidence will come back in the next installment.

No Respect For His Leadership

At the end of the first film, it was clear that Quill was the de facto leader of the group. After all, he came up with the plans, in the heart of all the action, and they used his ship. However, it seemed he had lost the trust of the group after vol 2. as none of the Guardians seemed to listen to him.

For instance, in Infinity War, Drax, Gamora, and Mantis disobeyed Quill when they went to confront Thanos on Knowhere. He also seemed to have lost the respect of the group for his attacking Thanos. The fact that he feels Thor could replace him suggests he knows he has lost the support of his crew.

His Mental Health

How far is James Gunn going to push Quill before he has a complete breakdown? While tragedy can add depth to a character, sometimes it can become too much and make the story monotonous. For instance, the first film saw Peter still trying to come to terms with his mother's death. Vol 2. saw him lose the only father he ever knew.

Even Infinity War and Endgame saw him lose the woman he loved twice. Would it kill them to give Quill a happy ending and not take it away from him? He's already suffered enough...

A Poor Team Player

Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor in Endgame

While Quill had a solid alliance with the Guardians at first, fans agree that he is a terrible team player. Ironically, when his friends were spiraling, Quill was good at defusing the situation and making them see sense. However, when it comes to personal matters, he loses all rationality.

Take Infinity War and Endgame for example. Despite telling Drax not to attack Thanos, Quill later contradicted himself when he assaulted the Titan for killing Gamora. Even his search for Gamora is in his best interests rather than the Guardians. What if the crew needed to do something.

His Issues With Earth

Ever since his mother died, it's no secret that Quill has issues with his home planet. Especially since the writers had established that he hadn't returned to Earth in over 35 years. However, his issues have become even worse as the planet is filled with even more bad memories.

Not only is it the place where his mother died but it is now the place where he watched as Iron Man sacrificed himself. It's also the place where he lost Gamora again. It's no wonder he wanted to leave immediately at the end of Endgame.

His Arrogance

One of Peter's flaws that fans hope will get better is his arrogance. For the past five years, fans have started to become irritated with how egotistical he has become. In the first Guardians, fans were forced to listen to him brag about his conquests and his criminal record.

In vol 2., his ego was shown to increase tenfold when he discovered he was a demi-god. Even in Infinity War, his arrogance remained intact when implied he was smarter than Tony and then took all the credit for subduing Thanos. It just seems obnoxious...

His Immaturity

Fans will also agree that Quill's maturity levels have declined as time has gone on. Star-Lord has often been described as a stunted man-child due to his immature and childish ways. Look at the opening to the first Guardians film - he was too gleeful considering the predicament he was in.

What about the dance-off he used to distract Ronan? No one can forget how immature Quill was when he began imitating Thor. Especially since he was paying no attention to Thor's warning about Thanos. He's still got a lot of growing up to do.

His Recklessness

Thanos from Avengers Endgame

It's probably safe to say that Peter has become more reckless and impulsive. The thing about Peter is, he cannot separate his personal life from his emotional one. However, this is his fatal flaw as he allows his emotions to blind his rationality. The first time fans saw this was in the prison break when he risked his crew's safety for his Walkman.

The next time was when he attacked Ego for killing his mother, where Quill's first instincts were to shoot and ask questions later. Two years later, he did the same thing with Thanos only this time there were grave consequences.
