The Guardians of the Galaxy's New Ship is Called 'The Benatar'

Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has revealed that the Guardians' new ship - featured in Avengers: Infinity War - is called The Benatar. The epic superhero movie sees two worlds collide as the Guardians team up with the Avengers to prevent Thanos from collecting all six Infinity Stones. Unfortunately, one character who doesn't make it into the movie is Star-Lord's original ship, The Milano, which was severely damaged during the events of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Peter Quill began flying the Milano when he was ten years old, shortly after he was kidnapped by Yondu and the Ravagers, and so the ship is named after his childhood crush, Alyssa Milano. Naturally when the time came to name a new ship, he picked another iconic woman from his time growing up on Earth: Pat Benatar.

Gunn revealed the name on the ship on Twitter this week, while also noting that it is not the same ship that the Guardians flew away in at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. That one was called The Eclector Quadrant, and Gunn says that it's still in the Guardians' possession - though its location is unknown. Presumably Kraglin is looking after it, since he doesn't appear in Infinity War.

The name of the Guardians’ ship in #InfinityWar is The Benatar.

The Eclector Quadrant. They still have it.

The Guardians' new ride is a tough little ship, taking them to the far reaches of the galaxy in Infinity War. Thor also got up close and personal with The Benatar, as you can see in the clip below.

The Guardians of the Galaxy movies' signature soundtracks are full of hits from the sixties and seventies, since the mix tapes were compiled by Peter Quill's mother and are full of songs she loved growing up. However, Peter was old enough to start developing musical tastes of his own before he left Earth in 1988, and Benatar was one of the biggest music stars of the eighties, with hits like "Love is a Battlefield" and "Hit Me With Your Best Shot." The singer is currently on tour with her husband, guitarist Neil Giraldo.

Avengers: Infinity War is a very packed movie, which is why it skips over a few details like the name of the ship and where Kraglin is. Fortunately, Gunn offered an answer to that second question as well.

Doing something else.

Fair enough.
