With The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special confirmed to be premiering on Disney+ in November, it now marks the second MCU holiday special to hit the streaming platform this year. This October saw the premiere of the rumored Werewolf by Night horror-tinged special, which introduced Gael García Bernal's Jack Russell afflicted with the ability to transform into the titular monster. Hailing from The Batman composer Michael Giacchino, the Halloween-released special has scored widespread acclaim from critics and audiences alike for its classic monster movie throwback, direction and the practical visual effects, giving a strong start to Marvel's experiments with shorter special presentations.

It's also interesting to note that The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special's November release date comes just over one year after Hawkeye, a similarly Christmas-focused MCU Disney+ project, premiered on the streamer. With rumors swirling of Marvel exploring more specials for its characters, it will be interesting to see if the studio expands this holiday special trend to other characters in order to better fill the gap between their movies and shows. In the meantime, audiences can look forward to their favorite cosmic superhero team's return with The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special on November 25.
