The original soundtrack for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy - plus the game's fictional 80's rock band Star-Lord - will soon release on vinyl. Eidos-Montréal's sci-fi superhero adventure appears to successfully capture the essence of Marvel's intergalactic misfits, including the franchise's love for killer soundtracks. Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy includes an 80's soundtrack, allowing players to rock out while they fight through hordes of enemy aliens.

Like the live-action version of Marvel's outer space outlaws, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy weaves music into the heart of the experience. A playlist of bombastic rock anthems is one of protagonist Star-Lord's few relics from Earth, and he closely cherishes these tunes. While exploring Peter Quill's spaceship, the Milano, players are able to choose which songs are playing at any given time. The songs even play an important role in combat, as the Huddle system lets Quill give his allies a mid-fight pep talk while blasting one of the game's many different tunes. Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy also features Star-Lord, a fictional 80's rock band whose original anthems and theatrical flair inspired Peter Quill's superhero moniker.

To celebrate the game's musical flair Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy has announced, via Twitter, an upcoming vinyl release available through Mondo. The double vinyl will include the cosmic epic's original soundtrack, composed by Richard Jacques, which adds gravitas and intensity to the game's emotional narrative. The fictional rock group Star-Lord, and its hard-hitting album "Space Rider," will make up the other half of the massive musical release. The make-believe band was created by Eidos-Montreal senior audio director Steve Szczepkowski, and fans can now bring the cosmic creation home on a classic medium.

Alongside Richard Jacques' original soundtrack and Steve Szczepkowski's transformation into the band Star-Lord, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy features a collection of well-known 80's staples. The talent that the game's soundtrack brings to the table includes KISS, Mötley Crüe, Pat Benatar and Billy Idol. These musicians help to establish Peter Quill's connection to Earth, and serve as a way to remember his late mother. Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy also features Rick Astley, in the form of the star's 1987 debut single "Never Gonna Give You Up." The memetic hit has found clever use in the game's marketing, as a recent video shows streamers being "rickrolled" when they fail to properly motivate the Guardians team.

Staying true to Marvel's team of cosmic misfits, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy puts a heavy focus on music throughout the space adventure. From Richard Jacques' bombastic score to the unstoppable riffs of the Star-Lord band, the game constantly gives players new tunes to experience. By releasing these compositions on vinyl, Eidos-Montreal is able to pay tribute to an older music medium while sharing the game's amazing melodies. With both atmospheric score and loud rock anthems, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy will bring a range of genres to vinyl.
