A new TV spot for Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy has just been released, showing off the upcoming game’s manic, 80’s rock-infused tone just a week before its launch on October 26. Square Enix and Eidos Montreal’s new space-faring superhero action title will put players in the role of Peter “Star-Lord” Quill as he rallies his rag-tag band of mercenaries on a new adventure to save the Marvel universe from an intergalactic cult known as the Universal Church of Truth, among other threats.

While players will only be able to directly control Star-Lord in Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy, they can still issue commands to Gamora, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, and Drax The Destroyer in battle and shape the game's narrative with important dialogue options that will dictate how the Guardians react to certain situations throughout their journey across the cosmos. Numerous other Marvel characters will be along for the ride, including Cosmo the Spacedog, Lady Hellbender, the massive AI Worldmind, and even the recently revealed Adam Warlock, who Eidos Montreal recently confirmed as a major character in the game. Additionally, Guardians of the Galaxy players can unlock costumes pulled straight from the comics and classic 80’s music tracks, and the game’s promotional material has promised a fun, squad-based romp with the team mainstream audiences have come to know and love from the highly-successful MCU films.

This is made readily apparent in the new Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy “You Got This” TV spot, which was posted on Eidos Montreal's YouTube channel yesterday. This brief prerendered video shows the Guardians in a tight situation against a squid-like space creature and an army of what appears to be Lady Hellbender’s minions. With their ship crashed and “Plan A” already failed, Star-Lord decides to implement his “Plan B:” flipping his mixtape over to Side B and instructing the team to cheerfully tear through the enemy forces to the tune of Motley Crew’s “Kickstart My Heart.”

While Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy took players by surprise when it was first announced at E3 2021 back in June, Square Enix has built up a steady wave of excitement for its new superhero game while assuring fans that it won’t fall victim to the same microtransaction issues that plagued last year’s Marvel’s The Avengers. Eidos Montreal has also promised that its version of the Guardians Of The Galaxy will feature plenty of interesting twists on the classic Marvel lore, such as Gamora’s connection to Nova Corps member Richard Rider and Peter Quill’s “Star-Lord” moniker being inspired by an 80’s metal band - which will even have its own animated music video in Guardians Of The Galaxy.

The new Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy TV spot is short but sweet, showing off the off-the-rails action and high-energy music that fans associate with the team from their exploits on the printed page and silver screen. Players will be able to rock out with Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket, Groot, and Drax once Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy launches on October 26.
