Eidos Montréal released developer commentary for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy's Lady Hellbender cinematic, which reveals that one quest will task players with selling either Groot or Rocket Raccoon. The studio dropped the latest GOTG cinematic trailer this week, showcasing a first look at Lady Hellbender and her role in at least one of the missions.

Star-Lord and the Guardians visit the formidable character to sell off a rare item; however, among the most fascinating aspects of the brief scene is Drax's attempt to flirt with Lady Hellbender. Such an exchange doesn't occur out of the blue, though, as it appears she makes the first move. With a little encouragement from Star-Lord, via a player-selected dialogue option, Drax tries to flatter her and shift things in the group's favor. But the Kylosian's smooth-talking may not be necessary since the Guardians have something to offer that should instantly intrigue the likes of Lady Hellbender.

Shortly after unleashing the aforementioned cinematic, Eidos Montréal uploaded developer commentary that walks viewers through Lady Hellbender's introduction. Cinematic and Animation Director Darryl Purdy narrates the video, explaining that the Guardians must pay off a hefty fine they incurred following their arrests by the Nova Corps. The crew's plan to pay off the debt revolves around conning Lady Hellbender, an "exotic monster collector," by selling off either Groot or Rocket Raccoon. Check out the full scene and Purdy's commentary in the video linked below:

Notably, the game will let players decide who to sell during the con job in a scene that Eidos Montréal showcased in Guardians of the Galaxy's original gameplay reveal. And the first choice isn't final either, as players will have the option to change their mind prior to reaching Lady Hellbender's domain. Regardless of the decision, it should be interesting to see how the monster collector responds to the gang's offer when the licensed title launches this fall.

Rumors about a Square Enix-published Guardians of the Galaxy game began swirling in early 2017, months after the Montréal studio shipped Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. The publisher and developer didn't unveil the Marvel project until E3 2021, though, promising an original GOTG entry that fully embraces the tone of the brand.
