Apparently, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy features much more dialogue than developer Eidos Montréal's Deus Ex titles. The studio announced its new licensed project during E3 2021 at the Square Enix Presents showcase. Several minutes of gameplay was shown, complete with a look at the eclectic cast of characters, combat, and mission structure.

In terms of both tone and gameplay, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy marks a big departure from Eidos Montreal's past projects. The studio best known for successfully reviving Deus Ex specializes in immersive gameplay systems and stealth, qualities that don't befit the Guardians' MO. But the upcoming Marvel title does borrow Deus Ex's dialogue options, evidenced by a few quick scenes featured in the aforementioned reveal showcase. There's still plenty to learn about how such systems will function throughout the game, but Eidos Montréal has teased that players can expect rather robust dialogue offerings.

Guardians of the Galaxy's Senior Gameplay Director, Patrick Fortier, recently sat down with Game Informer (via Pure Xbox) to discuss the combat system. Near the end of the interview, however, the developer offered a bit of insight into the banter between the Guardians. Fortier most notably divulged that this particular title may boast "twice as much dialogue" as a Deus Ex game. Even while setting the controller down during testing, Fortier said the in-game characters talk back and forth, sharing anecdotes about past adventures and how they met. "The more time that you give the game, the more it's gonna give back. It's that kind of game," he added.

That Guardians of the Galaxy may feature twice as much dialogue as Deus Ex is nothing short of incredible. Eidos Montréal's two prequel titles, Human Revolution and Mankind Divided, packed in an insane amount of conversation from Jensen's interactions with people around him to ambient dialogue in the streets and in-game newscasts.

Perhaps this news shouldn't come across as much of a surprise, though. The Guardians of the Galaxy game's main cast includes five characters, a couple of whom are known for talking a little too much. With the new information in mind, it'll be interesting to see how the character dynamics play out over the course of the experience.
