The Guardians of the Galaxy are chocked-full of Marvel's most unlikely heroes, with Gamora being a key team member. Thanks to her never-give-up attitude and incredible fighting skills, the deadliest assassin in the known universe and adopted daughter of Thanos has become one of the most beloved heroes in the cosmos. Now, cosplayer Melissa Croft has brought the hero to life in an epic body paint cosplay that needs to be seen to be believed.

Gamora originally debuted in Strange Tales #180 and was created by Jim Starlin. The hero's backstory is incredibly tragic, as she was the last-known survivor of her kind before being adopted by Thanos. The Mad Titan trained her to become the galaxy's deadliest assassin but eventually turned against him and joined the Guardians of the Galaxy as part of the rebooted 2007 team by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning. Besides a stint as the villain Requiem, Gamora has remained a hero in the Marvel Universe, joining Star-Lord and the Guardians on their comic book adventures. Gamora was brought into live-action in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy, where Zoe Saldana played her.

Body paint artist and cosplayer Melissa Croft shared her comic-accurate take on Gamora from Guardians of the Galaxy on her Twitter account. The cosplay is phenomenal, as Croft brought Gamora's armor, green skin, and key details about the hero's look to life. Without knowing Croft created the look with paint, one might believe she was wearing actual armor. Croft shared a side-by-side image of Gamora with her look, and it's hard to argue she didn't completely nail the body paint recreation.

Croft remains one of the most talented body paint artists in the world. We've shared some of her more recent body paint recreations, including her amazing takes on the X-Men's futuristic mutant Rasputin IV, Wonder Woman's classic look, as well as the disco-loving mutant, Dazzler. The body paint cosplays show Croft's care about the characters and how important it is for her to get the looks right - which is a tall task, considering they're all designed solely from paint.

Taking on Gamora's armor and look was certainly a challenge, but in the end, Croft once again delivered big time with the entire cosplay. It's hard to imagine how many hours went into creating the armor. However, it was undoubtedly time well spent, as her version of Gamora from Guardians of the Galaxy is a comic-accurate delight.
