As filming wraps on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, James Gunn shares an emotional post about the movie's cast, crew, and characters. The third Guardians of the Galaxy installment will see Chris Pratt return as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldaña as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Karen Gillan as Nebula, and Pom Klementieff as Mantis. The movie will also introduce Will Poulter to the MCU as Adam Warlock. James Gunn will be returning for GotG3 as the writer and director after Disney fired him from the movie and rehired him shortly afterward.

Throughout the production of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, which were shot at the same time, Gunn has made frequent updates on the movie's progress on social media. He shared that filming Vol. 3 has been an emotional process because it may be the last time he works with some of the cast and crew who helped create the trilogy. Still, despite the emotions, Gunn celebrated when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 wrapped production this week.

This post was another clear expression of Gunn's passion while making Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3As Gunn reminisced about his time spent working on the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, he explained how shooting the final shot of GotG3 reminded him of how precious life and love are despite their impermanence. While Gunn's emotional post once again reinforced the director's great appreciation for the Guardians of the Galaxy team, it also reiterated that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be the final adventure for this version of the team. Gunn commented on his plans after GotG3 previously, but he could not clarify whether any of his future projects involve the MCU.

For the moment, Gunn will focus on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 as the movie now enters the long process of post-production. As usual, Marvel will keep details about Vol. 3 under wraps as long as possible, but Gunn may continue to update fans on the movie's progress throughout the editing and VFX processes as he has been. Gunn and the rest of his team's hard work and passion will be seen when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is released on May 5, 2023.
