Karen Gillan trolls James Gunn over adding more Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Nebula scenes with sneaky artwork on the set of the film. The Doctor Who alum first made her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in the original Guardians of the Galaxy movie as the adoptive daughter of Thanos who remains mostly loyal to him in the original film by working with Ronan the Accuser in his search for the Power Stone for the Mad Titan. She would carry the role over into Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, all of which saw her take on a more redemptive character arc and eventually join the Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers.

Gillan returns for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 alongside Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Pom Klementieff, Sean Gunn and Sylvester Stallone. The MCU threequel will also feature the franchise debuts of Will Poulter as Adam Warlock, the super-powered artificial being created by the Sovereign, and Peacemaker's Chukwudi Iwuji in an undisclosed role described as a powerful and complex character. Following COVID and creative-related delays, filming kicked off on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in November 2021 and those behind the film are looking to keep anticipation high for the long-awaited trilogy closer.

As production continues on the film, James Gunn took to Twitter to share a behind-the-scenes Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 image. Gillan's trolling of Gunn for more Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Nebula scenes is a funny look at the duo's fun on the set of the MCU threequel, but also poses an interesting question of the nature of her involvement in the film. Seth Green, who brought to life Howard the Duck in Gunn's previous Guardians of the Galaxy movies, previously teased that the film would deepen the story of Nebula and Gamora, though noted he wasn't sure if this would be explored in flashbacks or a post-Time Heist setting. Given the Gamora currently a part of the Guardians team is a past variant who hasn't had the time with Star-Lord and the group, nor been given the chance to bond and forgive her adoptive sister, it would be interesting for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 to explore this new dynamic between the two.

While plot details remain unknown for the film, many theories regarding Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 continue to float about, namely as Gunn has confirmed it will be the final outing for his superhero team. Following his no-holds barred approach to The Suicide Squad for the DC Extended Universe, speculation as to which characters may not survive the new film have primarily focused on Rocket Raccoon, which Gunn has expertly avoided discussing, and Drax the Destroyer given Dave Bautista's confirmation it will be his final outing in the MCU. Only time will tell what's to come for them all when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 hits theaters on May 5, 2023.
