Director James Gunn confirms that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3's script has been completed. Gunn introduced the world to Peter Quill's (Chris Pratt) ragtag superhero team in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy. The film quickly became a critical and commercial success, and Gunn returned to direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as well. Thanks to Gunn's leadership and vision, the Guardians have transformed into an integral cornerstone of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

While Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 hasn't begun shooting yet, the movie has already endured its fair share of challenges. Gunn was originally tapped for the third film following his work with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. However, Gunn was fired by Disney after a conservative website unearthed several of the director's old tweets. That being said, Gunn was later rehired for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. To that end, though, Gunn will first work on the new HBO Max Peacemaker show before filming for the third Guardians of the Galaxy.

While the wait has been excruciating, Gunn confirms via Twitter that the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 team is making progress. More specifically, he highlights that the script has now been completed. In addition, Disney has hired a majority of the film's production heads. You can check out Gunn's exciting tweet below:

There's been a lot of speculation about the main storyline for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The team suffered a devastating loss when Thanos (Josh Brolin) killed Gamora (Zoe Saldana) in Avengers: Infinity War. Yet the Avengers' time heist in Avengers: Endgame (re)introduced a 2014 Gamora. Although this Gamora hasn't had any adventures with the Guardians, her appearance implies that the fan-favorite character won't leave the MCU quite yet. On that note, Avengers: Endgame showed the Guardians preparing to search for Gamora after the Battle of Earth. While nothing's been confirmed yet, finding Gamora seems like a plausible focus for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. However, only time will tell if this theory turns out to be correct.

Many of Gunn's films are known for their trademark blend of hilarious jokes and nail-biting action sequences. Between Gunn's previous work on Guardians of the Galaxy and his time on The Suicide Squadthe director has established himself as a superhero film expert. Many details remain up in the air about the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy film. However, with Gunn at the helm, it seems that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is already well on its way to becoming another smash hit.
