A new fan poster shows off what Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 might look like if Thor (Chris Hemsworth) joins the team. At the end of Avengers: Endgame, Thor joins up with the Guardians of the Galaxy after boarding their ship, resulting in him and Star-Lord getting into a pseudo-argument about who the team leader is. This scene left many fans wondering if Thor might become a central figure in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
The speculation continued after Marvel announced the next Thor film, Thor: Love & Thunder, would feature Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) as Thor. Many fans are wondering what happens to Hemsworth's Thor now that someone else is picking up the hammer. It seems to make sense that he would join the Guardians of the Galaxy, although Marvel has not yet officially confirmed Hemsworth will appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Despite Marvel's relative quiet on Thor's involvement with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, fans continue to rally to have him officially become part of the team. A new fan poster created by posteroster (via Reddit) shows what the team might look like with Thor joining up for the third movie:
Marvel recently confirmed that Thor: Love and Thunder takes place before Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. This chronology means that whatever happens in Love & Thunder will affect Thor's appearance in later films. When considering Thor's fate in Endgame, it seems Thor will already have been a member of the Guardians before Love & Thunder. Will his time with the Guardians make him choose that team over his Thor duties? Is this why Jane Foster eventually takes up the hammer?
Interestingly, Marvel continues to remain tight-lipped about Thor's potential involvement with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. In Endgame, Thor mentions the Asgardians of the Galaxy. In Marvel Comics, the Asgardians of the Galaxy replaced the Guardians of the Galaxy and included other characters with Asgardian ties. However, Guardians director James Gunn has stated the title of the third Guardians film will not be Asgardians of the Galaxy. That does not mean, though, the Asgardians of the Galaxy storyline won't be a part of the film.
Thor's fate after Love & Thunder is still up in the air. But this poster gives many fans what they want because they believe Thor becoming a member of the team in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 would be a lot of fun.
