Chris Pratt opens up about ending his cosmic team's movie trilogy with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Playing Peter Quill/Star-Lord in the MCU, the actor joined the franchise in 2014 via James Gunn's original Guardians of the Galaxy film. Since then, Pratt has reprised the role a few more times, with a couple more appearances already set for Thor: Love and Thunder and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Throughout the Infinity Saga, Marvel Studios established that prominent characters get their own trilogy. However, that is changing as the MCU enters Phase 4. Chris Hemsworth's God of Thunder gets a fourth movie with Taika Waititi's Thor: Love and Thunder, and Tom Holland and Anthony Mackie are expected to star in Spider-Man 4 and Captain America 4, respectively. Despite that, Gunn and the Guardians will stick to tradition, as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is meant to wrap up the beloved rag-tag gang's overarching narrative in the MCU.

In light of this, Pratt opens up in a new interview with Men's Health. The Star-Lord actor admits that he's becoming nostalgic about the whole experience as work continues for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and he makes a conscious effort to savor it while it's still happening. Read Pratt's full quote below:

You want to be conscious and put a lot of effort into experiencing the moment. Like, This is going away. I want to take it in. You can’t take it in any harder than just being present to it. So I’m being present. The other day Russell Wilson, the Seattle Seahawks quarterback, he got traded to Denver. He’s been with Seattle for about ten years. Which has been about the duration of this. I was like, ‘Wait, hold on, what happened?’ The emotion around the last ten years sort of coming to an end... I was in the most embarrassing way, like, ‘My quarterback leaves, so I’m gonna cry.’ It’s hitting me in moments like that.

Gunn has been vocal about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 functioning as the final outing for this original roster. The filmmaker also promised a big death or two in the movie, which hints that its narrative will be a rollercoaster ride for viewers. Specific plot details for the threequel remain scant at this point, but aside from the fact that it will mark the end for this line-up, the blockbuster will also introduce Will Poulter as Adam Warlock. Meanwhile, Gamora's whereabouts will be a major factor in the story, as will Rocket Raccoon's mysterious origins story.

Whether that means Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will see the team go their separate ways is still unknown. Dave Bautista has hinted the threequel will be his final outing as Drax the Destroyer, but no word yet if this means he will die in the movie. As for Pratt, it's still possible that Star-Lord remains in the MCU after his trilogy-ending appearance, whether spearheading the rebuilding of the Guardians roster or joining whatever remains of the Avengers.
