Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director James Gunn debunks a casting call scam that has been making its way around the web. Guardians of the Galaxy 3 has a massive cast, with Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Dave Bautista (Drax), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Bradley Cooper (Rocket), Vin Diesel (Groot), and Pom Klementieff (Mantis) all returning to the MCU. Despite her death in Avengers: Endgame, Gamora (Zoe Saldaña) will also be part of the story, with the film bringing back the version of Gamora that traveled to the future with Thanos. The sequel is also expected to introduce new characters to the universe, including Adam Warlock (Will Poulter), who was first teased all the way back in 2017 in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Unlike many MCU movies, filming on Guardians of the Galaxy 3 wasn't impacted by COVID-19 because Gunn needed to complete his work on DC's The Suicide Squad before returning to Marvel. Filming began in late 2021, and earlier this month, Gunn confirmed they had wrapped filming on the sequel. The journey during Guardians of the Galaxy 3's production has been an emotional experience for Gunn since he announced this would be his last Guardians of the Galaxy movie and likely his last collaboration with Marvel, aside from The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.

Despite Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 wrapping almost a month ago, a casting call scam has been circulating the web telling people to apply to be a non-speaking extra in the upcoming MCU movie. Many were skeptical of the advertisement, and now Gunn himself has debunked the casting call by reiterating filming has wrapped. He also confirmed The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special has been finished longer than the threequel. Check out Gunn's original posts below:

Given Gunn's online presence, it isn't a big surprise he debunked this casting call when it came to his attention. Gunn regularly posts on social media to interact with fans, post updates on his projects and behind-the-scenes images, and answer questions. It's probably disappointing to many that both of Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy projects are no longer in need of extras. That being said, there will be plenty of opportunities in the next 10+ years because of how quickly Disney is expanding the Marvel franchise.

It's a dream for many fans to appear in an MCU movie, even if the part is only a quick shot in the background of a scene. It may be tempting to apply online when advertisements pop up on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, but it's always important to research the company before sending them sensitive information. The best way to be cast as an extra is to live in California, New York, or other places movies are typically filmed and seek out actual casting agencies. Some may have easily identified this Guardians of the Galaxy 3 casting ad as a con, but it's a good call for Gunn to officially debunk it so that nobody else gets scammed.
