Total Film has debuted additional promo images for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, ahead of the sequel's release in theaters within the next month. While the Guardians of the Galaxy property was largely unknown by mainstream audiences when Marvel's first movie adaptation hit theaters in 2014, its success makes the followup one of the more buzzed-about blockbusters of this year. With an all-star cast and the promise of more cosmic mayhem in the vein of the first film, Guardians 2 pretty much sells itself at this stage in the game.

Still, the Disney-backed Marvel film isn't slowing down in its efforts to get the word out for anyone not already eager to see the sequel. Recent weeks have given us a cool international Guardians 2 poster, as well as a set of Guardians 2 banners, featuring the movie's core heroes. Of course, all of the press has also led to certain secrets potentially leaking. Case in point: Sylvester Stallone's mystery character in Guardians 2 may have been revealed ahead of time, as a side effect of the film's ongoing marketing push.

Meanwhile, Total Film is debuting its own look at Guardians 2, as the next Total Film magazine issue hits newsstands today. To tease the release, Total Film has released the two covers for the issue online, along with the intro to the inside story that shines the spotlight on Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and Baby Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Check them out below:

Teasing the coverage inside, the magazine offered up this description of what to expect when the new issue of Total Film drops:

From scrappy MCU underdog to the most anticipated film of the summer, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 has a lot to live up to. Total Film finds out why the team are branching out and scrapping the formula for a ‘Sgt. Pepper’ sequel, and how it all starts with a sapling…

While the cover shot of Peter Quill and the behind-the-scenes image of him on set are new, the image of Baby Groot atop a pile of dynamite is from a Japanese Guardians 2 poster from a few months back. Along with his hilarious introduction in the first teaser, the image reminds us that this new version of Groot will be as much of a troublemaker as his predecessor was a hero. Groot was used to hilarious and heart-wrenching effect in the first Guardians, so expect similar results in his sequel appearance - with a little mischief thrown in for good measure.

The magazine itself will also likely offer some more new images and a bit of extra insight into the film. While you'll have to grab a copy for the full Total Film story, we will likely see the contents pop up online soon - so stay tuned for even more images and information concerning Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
