There's no doubt that Guardians of the Galaxy is one of the strangest properties in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is saying a lot when you're surrounded by a boy bitten by a radioactive spider and an Asgardian god. And before 2014 the group of extraterrestrial misfits who travel through space were relative unknowns compared to the likes of Spider-Man and Thor. Yet despite the film's otherworldliness and relatively unknown stars, Guardians of the Galaxy went on to become one of Marvel's most successful movies so far; it was the third highest-grossing film of 2014 and the fifth biggest release from the entire MCU. Not bad for a new entry into the franchise that wasn't a sequel or team-up movie.

So a followup to the first film was all but assured, and it'll finally be released in just over a month. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is expected to be just as crazy, zany, funny and full of heart as the original and follows Peter Quill aka Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) as he sets off in search of his real father. Of course, his decision will undoubtedly affect father figure Yondu Udonta (Michael Rooker), who is back in the new film to stir up some more trouble.

Following on from an already excellent poster campaign, Marvel has debuted some international posters for the movie, including a banner and two new character posters for Star-Lord and Yondu. Check them out in the gallery below:

The banner features the main cast of Star-Lord, Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket (Bradley Cooper) and Baby Groot (Vin Diesel), along with Yondu and Gamora's adopted sister Nebula (Karen Gillan). It's a whole family affair, fitting of the approach director James Gunn is taking with the movie; not only will Quill try to find the father he never had, he'll also be very busy keeping his newfound family, this band of misfits, together.

The character posters, on the other hand, while retaining the supernatural feel, have more of a 60s and 70s aesthetic with the bright colors and side portraits. Like the original film, the sequel will again feature music from those two decades; songs from George Harrison, Fleetwood Mac and Bowie among others are reportedly being considered for Awesome Mix Vol. 2.

With us only a month away from the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, more posters and the soundtrack tracklist rumors are definitely on the way. Stay tuned for more updates.
