Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 may have snuck in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's first F-bomb and James Gunn is sharing his thoughts on the theory. The 2017 sequel saw the Guardians contending with the Sovereign race after drawing their ire on a botched job, while also being hunted down by Nebula, who seeks to put an end to her sister. The Guardians find their journey further complicated upon meeting Ego, a god-like Celestial who reveals he is Peter Quill/Star-Lord's father, though seemingly has ulterior motives for reuniting with his son.

Chris Pratt led the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 alongside Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan and Sean Gunn. The sequel also featured the MCU debuts of Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Kurt Russell as Ego, Elizabeth Debicki as Sovereign leader Ayesha and Sylvester Stallone as Ravager Stakar, amongst others. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 proved to be just as successful as its predecessor, scoring critical acclaim for its writing, performances, visual effects and soundtrack and outgrossing the first film with over $863 million made against its $200 million budget.

That UFO Podcast host Dan Zetterström recently took to Twitter to share an MCU Skrull translator, which seemingly points towards Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 featuring the first F-bomb in the Disney franchise with graffiti from Groot's room. Gunn took to Twitter to respond to the theory, not confirming whether it's true, but noting that "Adolescent Groot definitely has a potty mouth." Check out the response below:

Despite the mature themes seen in many of its stories, namely the fatality-heavy Avengers: Infinity War and horror-tinged Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the MCU has memorably avoided any direct F-bomb inclusions throughout its decade-long run. Oscar Isaac recently revealed he attempted to sneak one in with Moon Knight, believing the TV nature of the title would allow the creators just one and basing a scene on a viral meme, only to learn he wasn't allowed to and had to change the scene. Given both the PG-13 nature of the MCU and family-friendly nature of Disney, it's understandable no entry has yet to properly include an F-bomb.

While Gunn may have snuck an F-bomb into Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the MCU has a number of upcoming projects that could potentially dive into this R-rated territory. The biggest title expected to see this is Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool 3, which both he and former Disney CEO have assured will retain the R-rated sensibilities of the first two films despite a change in studios, while many continue to speculate and debate whether Mahershala Ali's Blade could get the similar treatment after the Wesley Snipes trilogy. In the meantime, audiences can look forward to Gunn's MCU return with The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special set to premiere later this year on Disney+.
