A new clip from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 highlights a tender moment between Star-Lord and Gamora. In less than a month, audiences around the world are going to get to return to one of the most successful and critically-acclaimed blockbuster franchises of the decade so far, with Marvel's highly-anticipated sequel. Coming from returning writer and director, James Gunn, the followup brings back all of the characters from the first film that audiences know and love, while also featuring the introduction of important new characters like Pom Klementieff's Mantis and Kurt Russell's Ego the Living Planet. The latter character also just so happens to be the biological father of Chris Pratt's Peter Quill/Star-Lord.

The introduction of Ego is just one of many ways that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is picking up where the first film left off, taking place literally just a few months after the events of the first. As the Guardians continue to establish themselves as a group of some of the galaxy's most fearsome warriors (maybe "fearsome" isn't the right word), trouble looms overhead when the team is separated from each other, after an unhappy client comes back seeking revenge against them.

There's less than one month left until Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is released in theaters as well, and as a result, Marvel and Disney are beginning their final surge of major marketing promotions for the film moving forwards. So today, the studio has released a brand new clip from the film itself, which teases some more of the romantic subplot between Star-Lord and Gamora (Zoe Saldana), as the two characters share an intimate dance on one of the film's new alien planets. Check it out for yourself in the space above.

In terms of the subplots based purely on their overall importance to the film's story and plot, the relationship between Star-Lord and Gamora in the first Guardians of the Galaxy wound up being one of the most minor. It was only briefly touched upon during some of their interactions throughout, and was mostly left as nothing more than a teaser of the possible things to come in the sequel.

Now, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 looks to live up to that promise from the first film, and already, the drama and romance between the two characters appears to already be playing a much bigger role this time around. Their relationship troubles have been featured heavily in a number of the film's trailers and TV spots so far, and are usually followed up immediately by a joke from either Drax (Dave Bautista) or Baby Groot (Vin Diesel). Whether or not Gamora and Peter actually become a couple by the end of the film is still a mystery, but they're certainly closer and more intimate with each other in this small clip alone, than they ever were in the first film.
