According to listings via UK storefront base.com, the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of GTA Trilogy will cost more. Amid a whole host of rumors and leaks, Rockstar Games and publisher Take-Two Interactive officially unveiled GTA: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition late last week. Though the collection is slated for a release later in the year, many details presently remain under wraps.

Rockstar's announcement of the news did feature a few noteworthy tidbits, however. For one, to prepare for the Definitive Edition's release, the studio will remove existing versions of GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas from digital storefronts this week. In terms of the remasters themselves, players can expect modern gameplay improvements and graphical enhancements across all three installments. However, Rockstar promises to uphold the "the classic look and feel of the originals."

As spotted by VGC, listings via UK retailer base.com indicate GTA's Definitive Edition will cost more on current-gen platforms. Both the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S iterations presently bear a £64.85 price tag on base.com, which translates to a potential cost of $70 USD. Meanwhile, the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One versions all boast £54.85, or $60, listings. Since the retailer also includes a placeholder release date of December 31, 2021, because a firm due date has yet to surface, reason suggests the prices may count as placeholders, as well. But without confirmation from Take-Two, the specifics remain shrouded in darkness. Screenshots of the PS4 and PS5 pages on base.com appear below:

Earlier this year, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick shared his belief that players are ready for $70 games. He noted as much during the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference, but said Take-Two will examine each product individually before deciding on a pricing model. Thus, it wouldn't come as too much of a surprise if the GTA collection bore a $70 price tag on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, especially considering Zelnick's talk of the publisher's games offering "lots of replayablity" as justification for the $10 price hike.

While Take-Two and Rockstar remain mum about a set due date for the package, industry insider Tom Henderson claims the trilogy will arrive on November 11. If true, an official confirmation should begin making the rounds in the very near future.
