In a new interview, Rockstar has hinted that new cheats were added to the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition while some found in the original versions of Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas were removed due to technical reasons. The long-anticipated GTA trilogy remaster officially launched today and players can re-experience all three groundbreaking games revamped on modern platforms with visual enhancements and gameplay improvements. These new overhauls include higher-resolution textures, increased draw distances, rebuilt lighting, reworked gameplay, and undiscovered new additions that help extend the trilogy's quality of life.

Since the original Grand Theft Auto, Rockstar has used the series as a pioneer for bringing cheats into the modern era and this classic method exists on a different plane entirely. Similar to the GTA's radios stations that clasp its iconic soundtracks, cheat codes are an integral part of the series and are considered memorabilia by players who have spent two decades using them for entertainment purposes. This fan-favorite feature ranges from spawning unique vehicles from the sky to recruiting pedestrians and many more that have kept the franchise extremely entertaining, strange, and distinctive. The latest entry, Grand Theft Auto V expanded upon the franchise's cheats, adding in exclusive codes for the PC version of the game.

In an interview with TheGamer, Rockstar Games Producer Rich Rosado has confirmed that the developers removed some cheats from the game as well as added new ones, although it's not yet clear which ones. For the remasters, Rosado states that some cheats were removed due to "technical reasons" that possibly break the game because of Unreal Engine limitations and being substantially different from the RenderWare engine. Despite revealing that some cheats had been removed, Rosaldo hints that there is a possibility that the game may include several new cheats for players to discover and mentions that he can't disclose more due to the title not being released at the time of the interview.

Similarly, legacy cheat codes aren't the only missing factor of the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition. Multiple songs that were cut from the previously re-released 2014 versions of the three PS2 era classics are still unavailable in the collection. This means that the GTA trilogy remaster doesn't have its iconic soundtracks and is a prime example of why the collection could possibly be a setback for fans of the series.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition is officially out and while numerous unknown cheats codes have been cut, there are ones yet to be discovered across all three titles. It is unknown whether the cheats will be officially revealed by Rockstar or if players will find them prior, but those who are ready to uncover more no longer need to wait, as the GTA trilogy remaster is officially out worldwide.
