Rockstar Games has announced that Grand Theft Auto Online will have exclusive current-gen vehicle upgrades when it launches on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The open-world online crime title launched back in 2013 alongside its single-player sibling, Grand Theft Auto V. Since then Rockstar Games has continued to support GTA Online through in-game events and updates.

Despite releasing almost eight years ago, GTA Online still receives frequent updates from Rockstar Games. Announced just recently, the Los Santos Tuners update will add street racing and a new social hub to expand the game's already massive open-world multiplayer setting. The update, releasing on July 20, will focus almost entirely on the cars which GTA players love to steal and use to race through the city streets. The LS Car Meet will act as a new social space, allowing players to meet up and admire each other's in-game set of wheels. A range of new highly customizable vehicles will also be included in Los Santos Tuners, with players able to mod vehicles with friends and then take them for a spin on a new test track. New street races will bring the car-themed update full circle. The Los Santos Tuners update will come just months after a May update added new stunt races, allowing players to put their driving skills to the ultimate test.

Developer Rockstar Games has announced that the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of GTA Online will feature exclusive vehicle upgrades. Select vehicles will feature new speed improvements, among other upgrades, allowing them to blaze through the streets of Los Santos even faster. Presumably, the faster loading times of the current-gen consoles allow for faster vehicles, as environments can be loaded much faster than on older systems. The PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of GTA Online are set to release in November 2021.

While GTA Online has been a massive success for Rockstar Games, the multiplayer title can not last forever. The original version of the game which was released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 stopped being updated several years ago, and now GTA Online's PS3 and Xbox 360 servers will shut down in December 2021. These older versions of the title are quite outdated at this point, but many players are still disheartened to see the original incarnation of the title disappear. However, PS3 and Xbox 360 players will still have access to the single-player portion of GTAV.

Nearly eight years after its release, GTA Online is still receiving substantial updates from Rockstar Games. While the current-gen update will not be a massive expansion of the title, it will add a plethora of new features for players to experiment with. By taking advantage of the advanced hardware available to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, GTA Online will allow players to drive faster than ever when it releases on modern consoles in November 2021.
