Grand Theft Auto Online player driving a tank accidentally pulled off a once-in-a-lifetime stunt, and they thankfully shared it online . There's still plenty of of activity in Grand Theft Auto V's online mode thanks to the recent release of the Cayo Perico Heist in late December. The update, touted as the biggest in Grand Theft Auto history by developer Rockstar North, has plenty to offer players. Besides the titular new mission, the update features a concert hall with a rotating set of DJs, twenty new vehicles to acquire, and even a trio of additional weapons.

As the years have gone on and more players have enjoyed what GTA Online has to offer, performing stunts in the streets of Los Santos has become a common pastime. Some choose to master the physics of unusual vehicles like rocket bikes, riding them through tunnels and under highways for an improbable length of time. Others take to modding in impossibly large ramps and then launch cars off of them just to push the limits of the Rockstar's RAGE engine. No matter the stunt, the community is always quick to reward those that pull of wild feats that it hasn't seen before.

GTA Online user Durzax pulled off a unique move that the developers likely never intended. In a video of their stunt posted to Reddit, players can see Durzax stalking the streets in a tank during a multiplayer match. Another player with a rocket launcher tries to end their fun, but thanks to the wonkiest laws of game physics, the tank is nimble enough to roll out of the way, allowing the tank driver to punish their foe for their transgressions against the surprisingly fleet war machine. It's a move that would be right at home on a highlight reel:

While driving is a big part of the Grand Theft Auto series, tanks are not a main focus of the crime simulator, at least in the single-player campaigns. This is especially true compared to games like Halo or Battlefield, which have much more fine-tuned heavy vehicle controls that allow for def movement and mastery. Tank controls in GTA games, whenever they do show up, are much more wonky and imprecise, and that extends to GTA Online. This just makes the rocket dodge inside a tank all the more impressive.

Anyone who has somehow never logged onto GTA Online might be surprised that there are even tanks to drive around, but the game has expanded greatly since it started many years ago. Players with hundreds of millions of dollars can buy all sorts of vehicles, manage buildings, gamble, and take part in more heists then are included in the main campaign. It's ever-expanding scope is one of the reasons why players aren't yet playing Grand Theft Auto VI, although that game is rumored to be in development now. One only wonders if the madcap energy of the open-world franchise's online component will translate over to a new single-player campaign or if it will remain restricted to multiplayer when the game eventually arrives.
