The most recent weekly update for Grand Theft Auto Online brought Shipwrecks to Los Santos, giving players daily collectible items to find washed up on the shore. Of late, GTA Online's weekly updates have introduced more compelling in-game content.

Last week's additions, for example, saw Rockstar Games unleash GTA Online's Kart Krash: Full Auto, a kart-racing mode fueled by mayhem and weaponized vehicles. Players join the fun by either going solo in "chaotic free-for-alls" or by teaming up in head-to-head matches against other groups. This particular experience went live only a few weeks after the Los Santos Tuners Update, which let loose features and gameplay options such as new customizable cars, robbery Contracts, Auto Shop ownership, the LS Car Meet, and a slew of extra races. While there's presently no word on what Rockstar may have planned for the next major content drop, the latest batch of incremental changes will give fans something fresh to look forward to on a daily basis for quite some time.

Yesterday, August 26, Rockstar unleashed an update that brought Shipwrecks to the shores of Los Santos. The wreck appears as a wooden boat stranded on the waterfront, its spoils including treasure and pieces of clothing. According to Rockstar Newswire, there are a total of seven scraps of clothing to find, which combine to form "an outfit from a previous era." Only one Shipwreck will wash ashore per day; players who want to track their progress on this front can do so by visiting the Interaction Menu's Daily Collectibles tab.

As is often the case, the weekly update also added a new car - the Karin Sultan RS Classic, a safe and reliable vehicle that players can purchase from Southern San Andreas Super Auto. And for the next several days, all Auto Shop Client Jobs will offer double in-game cash and RP. These double rewards apply to Lester Contact Missions, as well.

The addition of Shipwreck collectibles seems a good way to keep players engaged long-term in a new activity. It should more or less feel like a treasure hunts of sorts, too, one whose final destination should see GTA Online users can access to a brand-new outfit.

While GTA Online continues to provide fans with reasons to sign in, GTA V proper will soon have a new lease on life in its own right. Rockstar and publisher Take-Two Interactive plan to release native PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of the open-world title on November 11.
