One Grand Theft Auto Online Oppressor Mk2 griefer's attempt to attack a barbershop backfired in the most explosive way possible, all while a customer obliviously picks out a new hairstyle. Rockstar Games' successful open-world online multiplayer spin-off has been the home of all kinds of wild stunts and crazy hijinks, ranging from vehicular heists gone awry to city-wide alien invasions in GTA.

While plenty of Grand Theft Auto Online players end up planning the perfect midair plane-jacking or multi-rooftop car jump, some of the game’s most eyebrow-raising events have happened purely by accident. Police have randomly spawned inside escaping criminals’ cars, entire groups of players have been transported to a single location from out of nowhere, and one unlucky GTA Online player was cheated out of a brand new sportscar when a glitch negated his win at the Diamond Casino.

Yesterday, Reddit user theycallhimmason was picking out a new hairstyle for their character in Grand Theft Auto Online, as shown in a brief gameplay clip. Outside the barbershop, another player rolls up in an Oppressor Mk2 hovercycle and tries to fire a rocket from the doorway. This attempt at mass vehicular homicide quite literally blows up in this player's face though, as the missile bounces off of the walls and fires straight back at the Oppressor Mk2, resulting in a fiery explosion as theycallhimmason continues to pick out a new hairstyle and presumably wonder about the sudden loud noise outside.

Since it first came online in 2013 as a multiplayer component of Grand Theft Auto V, Grand Theft Auto Online has become a successful fixture of Rockstar’s blockbuster crime sandbox franchise. The past two years have been especially fruitful for Grand Theft Auto Online, due in part to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and a free weeklong giveaway on the Epic Games Store last summer. In 2020, GTA Online saw a record-breaking number of new players sign onto the game’s servers for the first time, which helped Grand Theft Auto V become one of the most profitable entertainment products in history.

Part of this success is the fact that pretty much anything can and will happen within the virtual world of Grand Theft Auto Online, whether it’s a cool death-defying stunt or a player inadvertently blowing themselves up in a prank gone wrong. The unlucky player who tried to attack theycallhimmason at the barbershop with an Oppressor Mk2 found this out the hard way, but for the millions of Grand Theft Auto Online players logging in every day, it’s just another afternoon in Los Santos.
