The upcoming Grand Theft Auto Online update will finally address the long-standing issue players have faced with the MMO’s flying Oppressor Mk II vehicles. Earlier this week, Rockstar announced its latest Grand Theft Auto Online expansion, The Criminal Enterprises. This collection of new missions and other content will feature a storyline centered around climbing gas prices and record-breaking heatwaves, introducing new ways for aspiring criminals to make money in the untamed open world of Los Santos - including transporting illicit goods and customizing supped-up motorcycles for paying customers.

One Grand Theft Auto Online vehicle many players agree doesn’t need any extra enhancements is the Oppressor Mk II, a jet-powered flying motorcycle introduced to the game in 2018. It can fly at roughly 11 mph and is much more maneuverable in comparison to other air-based GTA Online vehicles - and the Oppressor Mk II can be equipped with machine guns, explosive Gatling gun rounds, and homing missiles to help inflict carnage on any rival criminals in the driver’s path. While these attributes make the Oppressor Mk II a popular choice for players looking to launch surprise attacks in Grand Theft Auto Online, many feel the jet-powered vehicle is a little too fast and powerful, leading to several online petitions urging Rockstar to downgrade the vehicle.

However, a fix will be introduced once the new Grand Theft Auto Online: The Criminal Enterprises launches on July 26, as announced on Rockstar’s official website. In addition to the many new gameplay updates and added content, The Criminal Enterprises will also reduce the effectiveness of the Oppressor Mk II’s homing missiles and countermeasures, as well as provide players with more convenient access to Health-giving snacks and armor during firefights and much more.

In contrast to Rockstar’s now-defunct Red Dead Redemption Online, Grand Theft Auto Online has enjoyed a seemingly never-ending wave of support from its developer, which has led to a devoted and steadily growing fanbase. However, Grand Theft Auto Online hasn’t gone without its fair share of controversy, as fans staged a boycott of GTA Online in March over Rockstar's controversial subscription service model that came into effect earlier this year.

Thankfully, Rockstar does seem interested in balancing issues within GTA Online, including The Criminal Enterprises update's tweaks to help give players who aren’t riding jet-powered motorbikes a better fighting chance against them. While there are still many ways Rockstar could improve the overall player experience of Grand Theft Auto Online, these balancing updates will likely give many fans relief, and potentially lay the groundwork for other beneficial changes in the future.
