The first big GTA Online content update of 2021 is here and it definitely seeks to ground fans back into reality after over-the-top heists and other crazy adventures over the last few years. The latest GTA Online update, titled "Los Santos Tuners", highlights car culture within Los Santos and emphasizes The Fast and the Furious-esque underground racing scene, allowing for new street races and new ways to tune cars.

Rockstar began teasing the new GTA Online update earlier this year, hyping it up as a noteworthy summer update for the game. The most recent update prior to this came in the form of the Cayo Perico Heist, which added a new private island into the game for players to explore and steal from. That was released in December 2020, meaning Rockstar has been cooking away at this new update and the re-release for quite some time.

GTA Online's Los Santos Tuners update brings a ton of new content including new missions, clothes, quality of life improvements, and perhaps the most noteworthy addition: car meets. 30 players can all gather in a combat-free environment underneath a warehouse in Cypress Flats to show off their cars, mod them in real-time, and meet noteworthy figures in the racing scene who can help players earn some cash and trick out slick rides. Although the scale of the update is grounded in reality, there's still a lot of content bursting at the seams of the Los Santos Tuners update.

The update is available now and although it may not appeal to every fan of GTA Online, it's still pretty commendable that Rockstar was able to put something like this together. It's no small task and includes content that fans have waited years for. There's a lot of care put into it as well, as fans can even use the Rockstar Editor to create stylish videos from their car meets to really make the most of this new experience.

Rockstar's release schedule for GTA Online updates over the last few years has seen one update in the summer and one around the holiday season, so perhaps there's a chance a new update will hit in December, but there's no telling if it'll be exclusive to the new re-release of the game or if it'll be available on all platforms. Either way, GTA Online's Los Santos Tuners update wouldn't be a bad way to cap off this generation's content updates.
