Shawn Fonteno, the actor who portrays Franklin Clinton in Grand Theft Auto Online, noted in an interview that he has a history with Dr. Dre and DJ Pooh. All of the ongoing Dr. Dre and GTA Online talk comes amid the release of a brand-new update for the multiplayer suite. Known as The Contract, the update in question goes live today and features a much older Franklin Clinton who no longer relies on street hustling to get by. Franklin's dog, Chop, and best friend, Lamar Davis, appear in the latest content release, as well.

Since the events of Grand Theft Auto V, Franklin has founded F. Clinton & Partner, a "celebrity solutions agency" that will apparently be of service to Dr. Dre during the new GTA Online update. The premise seems simple enough - on his way to Cayo Perico, Dr. Dre loses a phone replete with as yet unreleased tracks and needs help to locate it. Enter F. Clinton & Partner, which manages to align itself with the client of a lifetime.

Speaking with USA Today about the new content, Franklin actor Shawn Fonteno noted this isn't his first time working with Dr. Dre and DJ Pooh, the latter of whom will host a Dre Day take over on GTA Online's West Coast Classics radio station. Fonteno told the publication, "I’ve known Dre for a long time. I worked with him before in a movie called The Wash that DJ Pooh directed." As some may recall, the DJ Pooh-written and directed The Wash was released in 2001, starring Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg as two of the leading characters. Fonteno appeared in the film as a character named Face. (Interestingly, Eminem appeared in a few scenes of the comedy, too.)

The Franklin Clinton actor went on to express joy about reuniting with Dr. Dre on such a project. Hopefully, Grand Theft Auto Online players get just as much joy out of seeing the two interact in-game.

GTA Online's The Contract counts as the latest in a long line of content releases for the popular multiplayer suite. It arrives in the months following the Los Santos Tuners update, which launched across all platforms in July and introduced new cars, additional Contract work, LS Car Meet content, and extra races. Evidently, Rockstar Games has yet to run out of ideas on how to continue supporting the ever-popular online modes.
