Mythological creatures aren't entirely new to the Grand Theft Auto series, but the Loch Ness Monsters has now joined GTA Online. Grand Theft Auto's Cayo Perico Heist comes with all sorts of new content, including a Loch Ness Monster easter egg which is currently being discovered by players. Although intended to be seen from afar through a scope or camera, some GTA Online players have even managed to swim up close to Nessie before she disappears - all thanks to the monster being a bit buggy.

The Cayo Perico Heist in Grand Theft Auto Online adds a lot of new content into the game, as Rockstar Games has promoted it as the biggest update to GTA Online ever. In addition to a new luxury island to explore, there are new submarines to control and multiple new GTA radio stations. Oddly enough, a Loch Ness Monsters easter egg is also included in GTA Online's new Cayo Perico Heist content.

Early in GTA Online's Cayo Perico Heist, players can see a Loch Ness Monster made in the sand behind the bar at one of the beach parties. After players found this, it led to speculation that the Loch Ness Monster might exist somewhere in the waters around Cayo Perico as well. Sure enough, Nessie has been spotted by multiple players since then. The monster, which comes from Scottish folklore and probably doesn't really exist, can be spotted just offshore. Under the right circumstances, players can even swim up to the mythological creature.

How To Find The Loch Ness Monster In GTA Online

GTA Online Cayo Perico

This isn't the first time Rockstar has hidden a mythological being in one of its games. Bigfoot rumors were common among players when Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas released, and Bigfoot was already in GTA 5 as well, and could even become playable. So, it's not super surprising that the Loch Ness Monster is in Cayo Perico now. So far, it looks like the Loch Ness Monster only appears during the "Escape Cayo Perico" portion of the Heist, and is meant to be viewed from afar. The creature doesn't have full animations, and will simply duck below the waves after a few seconds.

However, some GTA Online players have discovered ways to get up close to Nessie before she disappears into the water. FlamingBlades20 on Reddit posted a video that shows how a glitch allows players to swim in the water and get close to the Loch Ness Monster before the creature is gone. Otherwise, GTA Online's Loch Ness Monster can only be viewed from afar with a camera or a scope. The video can be viewed here:

The Loch Ness Monster easter egg is a pretty fun piece of new content in the Cayo Perico Heist. It's just the latest way Rockstar Games has hidden a mythological creature in one of its games, and GTA Online players should absolutely love it.
