A Grand Theft Auto Online glitch can suddenly turn what looks like an empty Diamond Casino into a crowded party filled with NPCs. In spite of its age, GTA Online is still one of the most successful games on the market, which can be partially attributed to the game’s recent surge in popularity with streamers. The online component of Grand Theft Auto V has been so successful that a recent study claimed GTA Online made over $900 million in revenue in just one year.

Despite of its massive success and popularity, GTA Online still features quite a few bugs and glitches. Given the game's eight-year-old code and its large scale, it’s not wholly surprising that it’s become difficult for developer Rockstar Games to weed out every single issue with the game without breaking other features in the process. Many regular players may have grown used to encountering these bugs from time to time and are still able to enjoy most of their experience, but they can sometimes be particularly hilarious or game-breaking - sometimes both.

Reddit user shaideen76 shared a video of their experience with such a glitch on the game's dedicated subreddit. The video shows shaideen76 entering GTA Online's Diamond Casino, which initially looks empty. As the player walks onto the casino floor, however, the location's NPCs suddenly start spawning. Unfortunately, three NPCs standing in a triangle formation appeared around shaideen76’s character, trapping them and leaving them unable to move. According to a commenter, it’s possible to get out of the NPC trap if the player takes out their in-game phone and starts taking pictures, which will lead to them getting kicked out of the casino. Another suggestion is to switch to first-person, which helps wiggle oneself out of the tight situation.

This isn’t the first time this glitch has been spotted and shared online. Fellow Reddit theyhaveher shared their experience with the same GTA Online Diamond Casino glitch not long ago, which also left them trapped between the exact same trio of NPCs. At the time, it was also suggested that going into first-person would be one way to get out of the predicament, but another commenter suggested that players should just wait for the NPCs to spawn before walking onto the casino floor to avoid the problem altogether.

With how successful GTA Online has continually been for Rockstar Games, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that Grand Theft Auto 6 won't launch with its own online counterpart. If that's the case, players will may have to live with some of GTA Online's well-known glitches and limitations for now. With luck, the game's standalone version and ports to PS5 and Xbxo Series X/S might coincide with an update to polish some of those issues when it releases in 2022.
