Some Grand Theft Auto Online players believe The Contract update has heightened the aggression of the game's NPCs. Developer Rockstar Games deployed GTA Online's Contract update earlier this month, introducing new content that brought Grand Theft Auto V protagonist Franklin Clinton back into the fold as a legitimate businessman.

The Contract depicts an older Franklin running "celebrity solutions agency" F. Clinton & Partner, a role that comes in handy once Dr. Dre enters the fold. Notably, the legendary rapper and producer loses a phone filled with unreleased songs. F. Clinton & Partner steps in to help alleviate the problem in any way possible. Though fans are generally enjoying GTA Online's recent content release, many think it would've served the experience better as single-player DLC for GTA V. Others, however, have their minds trained elsewhere, namely on the perception that the online suite's NPCs underwent quite the overhaul with the advent of The Contract.

As reported by Dexerto, GTA Online players have noticed that NPCs in The Contract appear more aggressive than ever. This is arguably best exemplified in a Reddit post from user spiderassassin5500, who recently shared a gameplay clip wherein random NPCs fall out of the sky, land on the pavement in an alley, then begin firing off shots. And the chaos doesn't stop there, either. Other non-playable characters storm into the alleyway about halfway through the video and fire blasts from their guns, as well. One GTA Online NPC, in particular, basically performs a driveby on a motorcycle, which results in the player character's death.

Other GTA Online users in the Reddit thread mentioned that they, too, have noticed a difference in NPC behavior since The Contract's mid-December launch. One person said NPCs "blind aim" more often than usual and seem more prone to rushing players now. Another Redditor added that enemy AI characters have also begun screaming obnoxiously, even before spotting the player. Here's to hoping Rockstar developers have taken note of issues and make the necessary changes as soon as possible.

GTA Online remains a top priority for Rockstar Games and publisher Take-Two Interactive. This hardly comes as a surprise given the amount of revenue it generates for the companies. In 2020, for example, GTA V and GTA Online earned $911 million at a rate of approximately 2.5 million per day.
