Rockstar's fictitious rendition of Miami hasn't been seen in-game since GTA: Vice City Stories, but a few fan-favorite characters could reappear with it being Grand Theft Auto 6's setting, and that includes the return of Danny Trejo's character. The two games that housed the fictional Miami, Florida-inspired Vice City as their setting last were Vice City and Vice City Stories, both of which were set in the 1980s. Riddled with drug dealers and crime, Vice City saw the rise of crime bosses such as Victor Vance and Tommy Vercetti as chaos enveloped the streets with numerous gang wars. By the end of Vice City, Vercetti becomes a kingpin, surviving the criminal life up to 1992, where San Andreas takes place.

Plenty of characters that have survived previous GTA titles are mentioned here and there, but not a single word about Vice City has been made since the events of San Andreas. Due to Tommy Vercetti's voice actor, the late Ray Liotta, having passed away, the Vercetti crime family will likely be disbanded or in shambles, leaving the city open to be claimed once again. Several characters from Vice City could return to fill the gap the powerful Vercetti crime family once filled. Characters from GTA 5 may also show their faces in the new title, but a character voiced by Danny Trejo could show up for one last game.

With GTA 6 set in Vice City, the player could run into an older Umberto Robina, voiced by Trejo. Trejo and Umberto would be around the same age if GTA 6 were to leave Vice City's 80s and show the infamous locale in the modern day. While Danny Trejo hasn't been in many video games over the years, he'd likely return to play Umberto again if the character is present with possibly a more active role. What helps make Umberto a likely candidate for returning to the Vice city setting is the similarity he shares with Trejo, both in personality and looks.

GTA 6 Could Give Danny Trejo's Umberto A More Active Role

Danny Trejo's Umberto could have a more active role if he appears in GTA 6.

Though the developer Rockstar confirmed the GTA 6 leaks, there is no confirmation on characters from Vice City making any appearances. If the game is set in the current era, any semblance of Vice City would be about four decades old, making characters like Danny Trejo's Umberto significantly older. Now while characters around that same age have survived the life of organized crime in the GTA series, it's not a given. More than likely, the least fans should expect regarding the Cubans and their leader is a mention by NPCs unless Rockstar keeps the Cubans around.

The trend of including movie actors in the violent crime universe of GTA has continued, but some characters are best left untouched. As more leaks and theories, like the possibility of GTA 6 having its own online multiplayer, are discussed, the only known characters for the game are the two protagonists. Whether Trejo's look-alike is revealed to have any involvement in Grand Theft Auto 6, the game will surely make more heads roll in the streets of Vice City.
