The recent Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks revealed a lot about the upcoming open-world action game, including the title's new and dramatically improved robbery system. The next entry in Rockstar Games' beloved crime series was confirmed to be in development back in February, though no official trailer or gameplay was released alongside the announcement. However, fans recently got a look at the game thanks to a massive leak that revealed early gameplay footage from the project. The GTA 6 gameplay leak may not reflect the final product, but it does hint at a number of improvements coming to the franchise's robbery system.

While Grand Theft Auto focuses primarily on committing various crimes across open-world environments, the Rockstar Games franchise has not always delivered in-depth robbery mechanics. Grand Theft Auto 5, for example, provides very few opportunities for players to plan and carry out dynamic robberies to earn in-game cash. Most of the title's big jobs, like bank robberies or heists, are restricted to highly scripted story missions instead. Some businesses can be dynamically held up for a profit, but interactive interior locations are generally very limited. However, based on the recent GTA 6 gameplay video leaks the sequel will let players actually set up and pull off their own dynamic robberies.

One of the most robust Grand Theft Auto 6 leak videos shows off a diner robbery conducted by a female playable character and her partner. During the video the protagonist points a gun at the diner's two cashiers and demands money from each, which they compliantly place on the counter for the player to take. She also checks with her male accomplice Jason as he patrols the diner and controls the patrons, with players apparently doing this manually by pressing a button. Hostages' hands can also be zip-tied, which likely prevents them from fighting back or attempting to escape. The Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay video ends with a police shootout and an escape in a stolen police car, which have both become staples of the franchise's open-world gameplay.

Grand Theft Auto 6 Makes Robberies Much More Dynamic

While the game is still in very early development, the leaked Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay suggests that the game's robberies will be much more in-depth and dynamic than those featured in GTA 5. Each hostage in the diner is given their own behavioral label, suggesting that certain victims will be able to run away or fight back against the player rather than simply complying to their demands. An on-screen prompt also suggests that players will be able to surrender to the police, and a new Wanted Level system means law enforcement will not use lethal force until the player does so themselves. Even this early footage suggests major GTA 6 gameplay improvements when compared to Grand Theft Auto 5.

The Grand Theft Auto series is all about committing virtual crimes, and GTA 6 looks to make robberies even more intense for players to carry out. Advanced artificial intelligence will make hostages and law enforcement react realistically and dynamically, ensuring that no two robberies play out the same way. The game will also let players issue commands to their accomplices, turning Grand Theft Auto 6 into a real Bonnie and Clyde fantasy.
