The gaming world at large is wondering when Rockstar will release Grand Theft Auto 6. A new leak seems to suggest eager gamers will still have to wait, but not so long it'll be unbearable. Although rumors regarding GTA 6 started flowing only a short time after GTA V released, 2021 seems to be drumming up far more leaks, rumors, and teases. Whether or not a reveal is imminent is somewhat unclear, but fans are becoming desperate for even a crumb of official news.

GTA 6 rumors recently sparked after a job listing was posted in search of Rockstar game testers, making many assume the game was almost ready. Of course, it's important to note, game testers are pretty essential for all stages of game development. If there weren't any, no one would know if the game works until the very end of development, which is not an optimal way to make a game. Rockstar is also releasing a new port of Grand Theft Auto V later this year, so it's likely if any game is in the final stages of playtesting, it's that. That said, a known leaker took the opportunity to clear some air.

Despite the whirlwind of recent GTA 6 rumors, it's not likely the game will be seen for in the next year or two. Noteworthy movie leaker ViewerAnon (via Dexerto) took to Twitter to note that last year, Rockstar had internally set a planned release date for late 2023. Of course, due to the pandemic, things may have shifted to 2024, but it does track. Rockstar released Red Dead Redemption 2 five years after GTA V and 2023 would be about five years after RDR 2. Although ViewerAnon mostly specializes in reputable movie leaks, their track record is good, but as always, take it with a grain of salt.

Rockstar Games likely won't reveal the game until it's much closer to being done, so expect a reveal in late 2022 at the earliest if everything goes according to plan. Still, there are plenty of GTA 6 rumors for fans to speculate over for many months. Although Rockstar has yet to confirm anything, all signs point to a return to Vice City in some capacity since it's the only established city Rockstar has yet to visit in the "HD era."

Some rumors have suggested there will be numerous cities in Grand Theft Auto 6, which may be possible given Rockstar's ambitions and abilities to push the technological envelope, but it remains to be seen. Whatever Rockstar is cooking up, it'll likely be massive and something impressive, if its previous games are any indication.
