Grand Theft Auto VI might be back in production and recording motion capture for its characters, based on comments from Rockstar parent company Take-Two Interactive's CEO. It's been seven years since the release of Grand Theft Auto V, and fans of the series are eager for news about the sequel, which, according to a leak, is set to take place in Vice City.

Grand Theft Auto V is the second best-selling video game of all time, and to this day it maintains legions of loyal fans, but even they are getting restless. The recent news that GTA V will be ported to next-gen consoles frustrated a lot of players who have been waiting for years to get news on the sequel. Many accuse Take-Two of milking the game for all it's worth, comparing the re-release to Skyrim, which has been the butt of many jokes thanks to Bethesda's habit of constant ports and remasters. Grand Theft Auto fans aren't the only ones who are getting impatient for the sixth game in a popular series.

But now it looks like there's some good news for those restless GTA fans. A Twitter account called GTA 6 News has picked up a few intriguing quotes from Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive. The quotes were allegedly sourced from a recent online conference called Communacopia and they concern motion capture recording. According to Zelnick, the "motion capture business" is back in full force. He notes that the company had to delay production due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but now everyone is safely working from home. Zelnick claims not to have noticed any downgrade in recording quality, either.

It's important to take this news with a grain of salt. For one thing, there's always a chance that these quotes from Strauss Zelnick aren't accurate; Communacopia was a private business event and it's not easy for fans to check the source for themselves. For another thing, even if the quotes are legit, none of them actually mention GTA 6. Take-Two is in charge of a lot of very significant video games, including Red Dead Redemption 2, which is lingering at number 14 on the list of best-selling games of all time, not too far from its 2013 counterpart. This renewed motion capture business could be dedicated to a new Red Dead project, like the rumored remake of the original Red Dead Redemption, or something else entirely.

It's easy to leap to conclusions and assume that this is big news for GTA 6. Unfortunately, without clear confirmation, it would be unwise to call the matter settled until fans get news from Rockstar and Take-Two themselves. Until then, GTA players will just have to be patient, like GTA 5 voice actor Shawn Fonteno has urged. Hopefully it won't be too much longer until fans get solid news about Grand Theft Auto VI.
