A Rockstar Games fan on Reddit recently shared their idea for a Grand Theft Auto 6 map, borrowing ideas and locations from both Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Red Dead Redemption 2. For the past few years but especially following Rockstar's recent confirmation that GTA 6 is in development, fans of the franchise have been theorizing about what its next-gen entry might look like.

It's been a long, hard wait for many GTA lovers. The last full game in the franchise came out in 2013, and Rockstar has offered nothing but re-releases and myriad updates to GTA Online since then. Even though observers were confident that GTA 6 would be released eventually, the developers have offered no official information about what that game might look like. Rockstar's games are best known for their expansive, charming, lively open-worlds. Games in both the GTA and Red Dead Redemption franchises take place in fictionalized versions of the US, with iconic in-game locations like Vice City (which continues to get referenced in GTA 6) being based upon real-world locations such as Miami. Red Dead Redemption 2 took this idea further by creating a massive version of the American South, featuring several different fictional cities and towns.

As speculation continues to run rampant, Reddit user WaIkertexasranger has shared a theoretical map of GTA 6 that combines Vice City with locations from Red Dead Redemption 2. The two largest locations are Vice City, which is situated on the southwest portion of the map, and Saint Denis further west, approximating the actual geographic relationship between Miami and New Orleans (the city Saint Denis is based upon). Additional locations, such as Lemoyne State Prison, have also been imagined as part of this mock-up, filling in the space between the mashed-up cities and regions.

Aside from being impressively sketched, this fan-made map presents some interesting ideas. It's likely that GTA 6 will be somewhat similar to Red Dead Redemption 2, so directly transplanting aspects of that game's map into GTA 6 could make for a cool experience. Destinations like the Cuba-inspired Guarma would certainly add a lot of variety to the game and shake up the mostly urban map design found in GTA games.

Whether or not players should expect this kind of map when GTA 6 comes around is a different story. Fans should note that the idea of the Red Dead series sharing a universe with the GTA games mostly boils down to fan theories and minor Easter eggs, so using a form of this map would require Rockstar to make a huge declaration that could back them into a creative corner. Still, the idea of Grand Theft Auto 6 taking some of the best parts of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Red Dead Redemption 2 is certainly an exciting one for fans.
