Grand Theft Auto 6 was reportedly almost set in a location that has not been seen in the GTA franchise yet. While the exact setting is currently unconfirmed, the upcoming Grand Theft Auto title will most likely be set in one or more cities that have already appeared in the series. It is not currently known when even a GTA 6 trailer will release, but Rockstar has confirmed that it is currently in development.

Fans have waited for GTA 6 in Los Santos for nearly a decade. and Rockstar has been quite mysterious about it. Rumors of GTA 6 have circulated for years and now that players know for sure that it does exist and will be available, more theories on every aspect of the new installment have arisen. Without any details from Rockstar, most information regarding Grand Theft Auto 6 is coming from leakers. While none of the leaked info can necessarily be confirmed, the rumors provide relief for concerned fans. One of the heavily discussed topics is the environment GTA 6 will take place in, with a games analyst suggesting 4 GTA cities will appear.

However, according to Dexerto the inclusion of only previous GTA cities was not always the case. Insider Matheusvictorbr tweeted that one of the original location ideas for GTA 6 was actually North Carolina. This is a completely brand new location for the GTA franchise, and a bit different as compared to environments of previous titles. Unfortunately, the leaker did not elaborate on their claim or provide any information regarding the actual locations Grand Theft Auto 6 will include.

Most Grand Theft Auto players that are concerned with the setting of GTA 6 seem to believe that at the very least Vice City (based on real-life Miami) will be involved, but overseas locations like South America have also been widely discussed. Unfortunately, leakers suggest that the developer has no plans to release any more information any time soon, with the end of this year being the earliest expected date. However, the recently released enhanced next-gen version of Grand Theft Auto V may be keeping GTA fans content while waiting for any sixth installment news.

While theories and suggestions circulate, Rockstar continues to quietly work on Grand Theft Auto 6. GTA 5 has amassed extreme success over the years, especially with GTA Online, but players are hoping the next title will be even better and fix some of the decade-old game's issues. Regardless of where Grand Theft Auto 6 will be set, finally traveling out of Los Santos will be a breath of fresh air.
