A huge amount of Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay footage was recently leaked, and this early peak at the game suggests that a great Red Dead Redemption 2 feature has been carried over by Rockstar Games. The upcoming open-world crime simulator will be a follow-up to 2013's GTA 5, which cast players as three outlaw protagonists on the mean streets of Los Santos. After GTA 5 Rockstar Games released RDR2, a Wild West epic that immerses players in the American frontier. Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption are considered sister series, and now one of the best RDR2 features may be reflected in the upcoming GTA 6.

Released back in 2018, Red Dead Redemption 2 takes players to a breathtakingly large and detailed recreation of the Wild West. As Arthur Morgan, players are free to explore various fictional states to engage in activities like hunting, robbing, gambling, and more. One of the game's most impressive features is its animals, which appear and behave realistically as part of the title's in-depth frontier experience. Animals will flee from or attack Arthur as they would in real life, and players can hunt each animal to collect their pelt which is realistically damaged based on Arthur's weapon. Red Dead Redemption 2 animal details make the open-world adventure truly awe-inspiring, and Grand Theft Auto 6 may reflect the game's massive variety of wildlife.

While Grand Theft Auto 6 is still years away, a leak recently revealed a ton of in-development gameplay footage from the open-world crime simulator. This leak showed off a great deal of the title's gameplay, which seems to be a general improvement compared to 2013's Grand Theft Auto 5. Various systems, like dynamic NPC behavior and the dialogue system introduced in RDR2, will make robberies much more intense and dynamic. The leaks also suggest that GTA 6 will take place in Vice City, a fictional city based on Miami that was introduced in 2002's Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and according to one GTA 6 gameplay leak this setting will let Rockstar bring back RDR2's animal variety.

According to one part of the Grand Theft Auto 6 leak, animal variety will be massively improved compared to prior entries like GTA 5. The franchise's 2013 entry did feature some virtual fauna and a hunting side mission for Trevor, but GTA 6 is set to include more exotic creatures like boars, alligators, and raccoons. The leak also suggests that players will be able to tame animals, possibly to use as companions across the open world, and also ride horses. Fishing spots and bait shops are also teased by the Grand Theft Auto 6 leak, so the in-depth RDR2 fishing mechanic may return for Rockstar's next game too.

The GTA 6 leak videos reveal a lot about Rockstar Games' next project, and it seems the developer has learned a lot from 2018's Red Dead Redemption 2. Based on leaked gameplay, Vice City will be home to a wide variety of different animals, which will make the setting even more immersive and reactive than Los Santos before it. The Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks are from early in development, however, so only time will tell whether the game can actually match Red Dead Redemption 2 in terms of animal variety.
