There are plenty of themed side missions the Grand Theft Auto franchise has yet to explore and could be incorporated into GTA 6, the next installment of the long-running video game series. Even though there’s been no official word on if or when a GTA 6 may debut, including side missions with different gameplay expectations and mechanics than players are used to would be an excellent way to keep the franchise fresh and exciting for longtime series fans.

Barely anything is known about GTA 6. There have been rumors that the game could be set primarily in Vice City with some missions taking place in a Rio de Janeiro-inspired city. It would make sense for the franchise to re-visit Vice City, the franchise’s fictional version of Miami, since recent GTA games have re-visited the other two cities in the series' trifecta, Liberty City (New York) and Los Santos (Los Angeles).

There have also been rumors floating around pertaining to the setting of GTA 6. Speculation suggests that the game may take place in the ‘70s or ‘80s, which would be a big change from GTA 5’s modern California environment. But, again, nothing has been officially confirmed about the game’s setting or time period.

Side Missions GTA 6 Should Definitely Incorporate

Similarly, it’s unclear what side missions will be included in Grand Theft Auto 6 when it releases, or if Rockstar will once again choose to incorporate side mission which have already been done in the series many times before. To keep players on their toes, introducing completely new side missions could be the best route. For instance, some fans have requested that companion dogs be incorporated into GTA 6, allowing a canine companion to trail the playable character throughout the open world. This could open the door for an Animal Control-themed side mission – players could drive around GTA 6's city looking for roadkill to clean up, or similarly, they could be tasked with looking for animals that have gone missing or become violent.

Many fans of the franchise have been vocal about wanting to see the return of taxi missions. But to give it a fresh upgrade, Rockstar could make it Uber- or Lyft-themed, since ride-sharing apps have skyrocketed in popularity since the release of GTA 5. Players could have an option to carpool with multiple passengers, and they could use a specific app in the character’s cellular device to connect with passengers. It would be even better (and hilarious) if players were able to rudely rate passengers, and if passengers could likewise rate the driver.

Other ideas include a mailman or census taker. For the mailman, players could be tasked with delivering mail to different houses, and even funnier, they could have to stop their packages from being stolen from local thieves. For a census taker, players could similarly go door-to-door but they would actually have to interact with the homeowner as they (ironically) convince them to do the legal thing by completing their census. There are countless types of new side missions Grand Theft Auto 6 could introduce, but players will have to sit tight until details about the game are released to find out just what will be included.
