Take-Two Interactive Software has released their 2020 quarterly earnings report, and it looks like Grand Theft Auto 6 could possibly arrive sometime during 2022's fiscal year. Previous earnings reports and tax documents have hinted at Grand Theft Auto 6's development and the probability that the game will release on next generation's PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles, but players have yet to hear any official word from the company about the game's existence.

Despite the increasingly long wait since 2013's Grand Theft Auto V was released, many players are still finding enjoyment in the game thanks to Rockstar's massively popular online multiplayer mode, Grand Theft Auto Online. Although Grand Theft Auto Online currently has some serious problems with both multicolored aliens and a plethora of hackers and modders, both of which are making life miserable for many of the other players who would simply like to play the game normally, it still remains one of Rockstar's (and their parent company Take-Two Interactive's) most profitable titles.

According to Take2Gamesreport, the upcoming games their company will release will comprise of "the strongest development pipeline" they have ever had, but most of those new titles won't be arriving this year. Boasting that they have new entries coming from both new intellectual properties as well as "sequels from our biggest franchises," the company states that 2021's fiscal year will be a "light new release year" but they they have "an array of titles that will begin to launch in fiscal year 2022, which we expect to drive sequential growth that year."

While the report doesn't mention Grand Theft Auto 6 specifically, it's probable Take-Two would consider the title one which could help spearhead "the strongest development pipeline" they have ever had, and it's very unlikely that any year in which a new Grand Theft Auto game releases would be considered a "light release year." This information, coupled with previous industry reports which alleged that Grand Theft Auto 6 is somewhere in early-to-mid development, points as the game's release likely happening sometime in fiscal year 2022, which runs from April 2021 to March 2022.

It's worth noting that Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption franchises aren't the only big-name video game titles owned by Take-Two Interactive, and they also possess control over 2K Games franchises like NBA 2k and the BioShock series. However, Grand Theft Auto is by far the highest-selling out of all of them, so much so that the franchise is even mentioned in Take-Two Interactive's financial report's opening paragraph, and with all of the current rumors and speculation surrounding Grand Theft Auto 6 it would be nice to hear an official word about development from Rockstar... although that's likely not going to happen until next year, judging from this new information.
