Voice actor Shawn Fonteno, who played Franklin in Grand Theft Auto V, has asked fans to be patient with Rockstar Games when it comes to releasing Grand Theft Auto VI, as it's a "long process" to create such a complicated sandbox, campaign, and (presumably) multiplayer. Rockstar has still not officially confirmed that the sequel is actually in development. But with Grand Theft Auto V having originally launched in 2013, some fans are getting impatient about when a new entry in the series will become available.

Although little is known about Grand Theft Auto 6, that hasn't stopped plenty of speculation emerging online about the title. Most of the leaks concerning the game suggest that it will take place in Vice City, making it the first entry in the franchise to return to this location in almost to decades. Meanwhile, Lazlow Jones has also confirmed that he has left Rockstar, putting his radio DJ character's future in question.

Shawn Fonteno, the voice actor who performed the role of Franklin in Grand Theft Auto V, has spoken out about fans who are impatient about the release of Grand Theft Auto 6. Speaking in a video posted to social media and saved by Twitter fan account GTAVInewz, Fonteno said that fans need to show some patience and asked that players "don’t knock Rockstar down man." According to the voice actor, creating games the size of Grand Theft Auto 6 takes a lot of time, explaining, "Y'all gotta understand, it’s a process to put these games out.” Fonteno also confirmed that motion capture and voice recording for Grand Theft Auto V took a lot longer than many fans might have realized, which says was only completed after more than four years of development.

Largely due to the fact that Rockstar has yet to announce that Grand Theft Auto 6 is in the works, it is currently unclear when the game will release. The studio launched Red Dead Redemption 2 two years ago and has not had another title available since. However, there have been numerous rumors that the sequel might release in 2021 or 2022. But there are also some suggestions that it might be 2023 before Grand Theft Auto 6 is available in stores.

The sheer size and complexity of the Grand Theft Auto series means that every entry invariably takes a long time to complete. With Rockstar planning on releasing a next-gen version of Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online growing in popularity, the studio doesn't exactly need to rush a sequel out the door. Of course, some fans are beginning to get restless as there has been no news whatsoever about Grand Theft Auto 6 but Shawn Fonteno's take on the development process should reassure players that Rockstar is not just milking Grand Theft Auto V.
