Grand Theft Auto 6 has the perfect chance to fix the police mechanics of the series, which have been broken for a while. They are an iconic part of the Grand Theft Auto franchise, with GTA Online even allowing players to become cops, and characters have to deal with them both when roaming the world and during missions. However, although the current chases and shootouts can be very entertaining, the law enforcement mechanics need to be updated, as they've become more and more repetitive.

When committing any crime in most GTA games, players are attributed a wanted level represented by 5 stars in the upper right corner of the screen, the map flashes bright red and blue, and the police begins to look for them. This can lead to long chases and even shootouts to occur, which can result in players being caught or the police losing their track. When caught, officers will immediately open fire against the character, and as the wanted level rises, they will become more and more violent. However, they do this by repeating the very same strategy regardless of the situation, which can be very repetitive.

According to what was learned from the Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks, the next game of this franchise is aiming to bring together the best aspects of its predecessors and innovate upon previously established core mechanics, which might lead to an upgrade in the police mechanics completely. If nothing else, it's hopefully a chance to fix core issues to an overly brutal police force that doesn't diversify its main strategies. This could be done by introducing new ways the police can approach players depending on their wanted level, and Rockstar can (and undoubtedly will) improve their artificial intelligence to allow for more advanced strategies and deeper nuances when interacting with players.

Grand Theft Auto 6 Can Make The Police Even Better

There are many leaked game mechanics that prove GTA 6 will likely exceed expectations, but it would certainly be even more well-received by adding new ways for the police to interact with the player. For example, for crimes associated with lower wanted levels, the police should be able to immediately arrest the character instead of shooting at them. Instead of leading to an immediate “game over” screen, this could lead to intriguing situations as seen in the original Mafia 2, in which players were able to bribe officers, and this type of mechanic could fix the issue of repetitive and brutally violent interactions with the police in-game.

Not only that, but Rockstar also has the perfect opportunity to completely change how the police officers act in Grand Theft Auto 6. According to the 90 GTA 6 videos leaked, new mechanics are being tested and coded into the game, and a new artificial intelligence system for the law enforcement could be in development. An improvement like this would make chases more interesting, allowing for new outcomes and surprises. For example, while in a shootout, officers could position themselves in more hidden locations and surprise the player by injuring them from another (very unexpected) hiding place. These updates would solve one of the franchise’s biggest issues regarding how the law enforcement works.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is promised to expand the horizons of the next installments of this franchise, resurrecting the iconic Vice City scenario from a previous game and introducing GTA's first female protagonist, a big deal for the series. And by upgrading the law enforcement’s core mechanics, making them less repetitive, the game would become even more unique and innovative. With the new leaks, fans are excited to learn more about what is currently in development for this entry of the franchise, and adding new police-related mechanics and making them more diverse would make it one of the best games of the franchise so far.
