According to rumors and leaks from a gaming analyst, Rockstar's upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6 could feature four cities and include over 500 hours of gameplay. Speculation surrounding the next chapter in the critically-acclaimed open-world crime series has been ramping up since the release of GTA 5 back in 2013, and has been exacerbated by the recent official confirmation of GTA 6's development.

While the long-awaited announcement came as a relief to some fans, it did not bring too many concrete details about what GTA 6 will actually look like. The setting of the game is still unknown, for instance, and Rockstar has not revealed if GTA 6 will feature multiple protagonists like its predecessor. Along these lines, a release date for the game is also not yet confirmed. Because GTA 5 took players back to Los Santos, the setting of GTA San Andreas, some fans have proposed that this next title could be taking place in another classic series location such as Vice City, with one fan even making a massive GTA 6 concept map combining Vice City with locations from Red Dead Redemption 2.

A new report from games analyst Michael Pachter on the SFTD Games YouTube channel claims that GTA 6 will have multiple cities for players to explore, with gameplay that could last up to 500 hours (via Wccftech). Pachter, who serves as managing director of equity research at Wedbush Securities, believes development of GTA 6 began in earnest between 2014 and 2015, and expects the game will feature several real and fictional locations, including Vice City, Liberty City, San Andreas, and London, along with other overseas destinations. Because of this massive scale and the complications that it brings, the leaker believes the game could offer somewhere between four hundred and five hundred hours of gameplay. Rockstar hasn't commented on the statements, and many fans have already called them into question, citing previous mistaken claims from Pachter as a reason for their disbelief.

The prospect of a sprawling Grand Theft Auto map that takes players across the globe is sure to excite many fans, but it's important to reiterate that essentially no information about this game has come out, and leaks and rumors have thus far been unconfirmed. One leaker has even stated that there won't be any trailer for GTA 6 this year, which indicates that gamers could be several months away from getting solid, verifiable information.

The past few years have been somewhat controversial for Rockstar. Many gamers who were once dedicated to the company have lost faith due to its apparent neglect of Red Dead Online and prioritization of GTA Online over everything else. This was, of course, not helped by the problematic launch of last fall's GTA Trilogy. If the company can deliver with some exciting, positive info about Grand Theft Auto 6 or even dispel recent rumors, that could earn back a lot of goodwill.
